2010 r56 jcw rattle?

Just recently bought a 2010 mini cooper s jcw, didn't think this noise was anything to worry about. However just came across some posts regarding the death rattle and I am suspecting that this is the noise. Can anyone confirm if this is it? Left the car at idle for a few minutes and it does not seem to go away. Thanks in advance

i concur. that 'hammering' sound around the passenger side area is your tensioner or timing chain problem. hopefully you can get the dealer to fix it under the current 'recall/campaign'

I've heard alot worse, check your oil level too. Other people who had this issue also had low oil.

Sent it in to get checked at the dealer and get the turbo water pump recall, "apparently" they say its a normal noise. In its overnight stay they did also manage to clip the front bumper against something, lose a bit of vinyl off my stripe, scratch my bonnet and made my gear stick extra wobbly. Another perk of being in Australia I guess.

Yes that's the rattle. That is not within the normal noise range. Can't believe they didn't replace it. Brisbane Mini replaced mine without a whinge after I said I heard a metallic noise. Take it back, say it is not normal and if they don't do anything, ring Mini Australia and complain loudly.
