Waiting for the 2014?

Waiting for the 2014?
Hey All, I am new here to NAM but not to MINIs. I owned an R53 and loved it. But the love didn't last for long as i had to sell it to afford some college (along with my Mustang).
But now I am nearing graduation and have a career that pays enough to get back in the seat of the best car I have ever driven. I am planning on getting the 2014 JCW as soon as they open up orders (too long of a wait )
Is there anybody else waiting to get a 2014?
edit: I have been spending a lot of time on MotoringFile.com reading about all the new features of the car. I am exited to see the new colors (Volcano Orange).

I wish I could have waited for a 2014. But if I was going to buy one, it was cheaper for me to do it now since I was buying through Pentagon Car Sales. If I waited for the 2014's to come out, I would have got delivery of it right before I moved back to the states, or I would have to take delivery in the states. Which meant I'd have to pay full taxes on it (whereas taking delivery here in Europe, and then bringing it back with me, I have a good chance of not having to)

As cool as many of the new things coming to the 2014's sound - I've got a 2013 on order.
1st year cars of any MINI variety have a tendency to develop some frustrating and in some cases serious issues, and it can take a model year or two for MINI to get the worst of the kinks out. If you want one of the redesigned models I actually suggest waiting for the 2015s and let somebody else be the guinea pig...

And it's not just MINI that has a few warts that get missed in the testing process in rolling out a new model --

Would the JCW not continue to use the N18 engine, just like they continued the N14 up to this year?
Then there's the rumors of a potential 2.0L JCW around 2015.
Either way, I'd feel better regarding the new-model-kinks since it will share an engine with the 1 series bmw. Should be a bmw engine right?

That's the other thing that the OP needs to be thinking about - the JCW version typically isn't launched alongside a new MINI model. The Paceman is probably the exception to that - but from what we've seen in the past JCW models come a good 6 months to a year after the model is released, at least as standalone models...
It's entirely possible that a JCW variant could be released alongside the rest of the F56 lineup, but there's no guarantee...

Also, as more details come about I want to see how it is styled without the camo and fake lights. If it looks like a boiled horse then I will get in a 2013 R56 JCW order in before the new ones are out.

I think that what you need to think about is how much you like the existing car. If there are things that you don't like about todays car, then its a crap shoot to see if you will like the new model better. Unfortunately, by the time that official details come out about the new models, you will likely be unable to order a 2013.
You could always look at curing your fix by doing a 2 year lease (long term rental) on a 2013, then the bugs should be out of the new platform for you to order a new one.
