17 or 18 with non-runflats?
17 or 18 with non-runflats?
Okay, just finished the lease on my 09 JCW and bought it, now comes the tearing apart and rebuilding. Have done several things to the vehicle, most recently spending way too much money on blacking out everything. The wheels are next, factory tires are coming to the end of their like so rather than powdercoating factory wheels black I was planning on buying new.
I like the look of the NM Engineering 18" Light Weight Wheels. Now, it seems there are way less tire choices for 18's and a friend who has an 05 "S" has 18's and tells me it shakes his car apart. I'm not opposed to 17's, I've only been to the track once and jst plan on keeping it garaged in the winter, bringing it out in the summer and rubbing it with a diaper. I'm purely doing it for looks. If the NM's came in 17" with the same pattern I would probably go that route but they do not. Thoughts?

I have 18's with the stock 205/40 runflats on them. I LOVE the look, the ride is a bit rough, but it's not terrible. Guess it all depends on the roads you drive on. When it's time for new tires, i plan on getting non runflats with 215/40 for that little extra protection. I've already bent one of my rims once. Gonna try to alleviate that from happening again.
Thanks, I'm keeping my extra set of 17's for winter until I pay off the car completely and purchase a winter beater. The roads in the summer, at least in my neck of the woods are pretty doable, my buddy who says his car is shaken apart lives in a old neighborhood with something sketchy every twenty feet. The NM 18" are already lighter than my stock 17 JCW wheels. I guess I just want to make sure I always have tire options.
There's a reason there are far fewer 18 tire choices. Far fewer people choose 18" wheels because they ride way harsher because there's a lot less air in them. It'll rattle the fillings out of your teeth!
The nice thing about NM's wheels is that you never need spacers, even if you want to install a big brake kit. They are engineered with that in mind.

This is with the Wilwood BBK with 12.7" rotors on the front. You can see how much room is there. Between the spoke of the wheel to the caliper, there is a little less than an inch of space. So, there is plenty of room.
