Squeaky brakes

The brakes on my2009 fJCW just began squeaking, but only when I'm backing up. Is this an early sign of me looking at a brake job soon, or just a common anomaly? I got it six months ago with 35k miles, and now have about 39k. I don't tend to drive with a heavy foot on the brake.

Mine never squeaked backwards but going forward, squeaked badly. I have 42K miles on my 11' MCS. I just did my brake job on it since my OEM rotors were basically gone. Hopefully your not in my situation just yet, mind you I don't even brake hard or anything, I was shocked I had to get them done this early.

Common issue with the Brembo brakes on the JCW.

I bet the BMW engineers purposefully do this kind of stuff regarding weird car behaviour, like breaks only squaking when in reverse

"Und you know vat vee should do? Ve should make dee brrrrrakes only sqveek ven dee carrr eez een rrrreverzzz! Zat vould be a hoot!"

Uneven pad wear from the Brembo calipers; they wear at an angle.
