Maybe make a sticky with the build numbers?

I thought I read somewhere that was only about 500 built in 09?

400-500 per year (in the states) since '09 I think.

This is probably a dumb question, BUT, Is a hatchback fJCW different than an R56 JCW?

Maybe I should have used the R56, but I wanted to separate the numbers of converts and clubbie guys too .

Thanks! Then, the 'f' stands for factory, as opposed to by the JCW kit and having it installed at the dealer. Right? I'm surprised that there's only 400 to 500 made per year. That number seems low.

I suspect that many more folks are opting for the dealer option this year...
The change in the motor that the S got with the variable valve timing, etc made it much better...the factory JCW DOES get a bigger turbo....but for anybody wanting more than just pure HP, the new updated motor is well liked, gets good MPG's, and a broader torque band for better drivibility......
On the earlier cars (pre '12) the JCW was a more clear cut winner...but on the 12's ans maybe late 11's...that variable valve timing stuff in pretty neat...
I would bet MINI would make build as many fJCW's as folks order....

There's already a thread or two on this if you look through a few pages of the factory JCW section.

The last time I saw some numbers it was around 490 factory JCW's imported into the US in 2009. That number included Hardtops, Convertibles, and Clubman. But MINI doesn't seem to release any real numbers for whatever reason.

But you don't get the brakes, chili red interior, red roof, stronger clutch, gearbox, etc. on the JCW kit if those are important to you. I am heavily biased of course ;-)

I wouldn't trade my fJCW for an S w/ JCW, but I can definitely see the benefit of wanting an auto S w/ JCW package.

I think there are some details about this on motoringFile and Library of Motoring.

What I want to know is how many fJCW are imported into CANADA? I only see a few fJCW in Toronto a year - and this is Canada's biggest city of 5+ million.

2009 fJCW register!

Lets say there was 500 fJCW's made in 2009. If we used the build date of our 09s as a start and the last 4 digits of the vin, we could devolop a register of sorts.
I'll start

I'll claim the first one built until somebody bumps me off

fJCW 2009 #1 vin 96179 built June 2008

A registry was already started a few months ago, although no one has posted to it in a while, and it isn't a sticky Go here.
