Meet "Axion" (Finally wanting to show out exterior mods thus far)

I recently purchased my JCW '09 after finding it sitting on a lot with 1,800miles on it. Couldn't pass it up, picked him up on September 17th and a little more than a month has passed and now he sits like this.

Hope you enjoy! More performance parts coming soon hopefully but not sure where to start.

Now looking to swap my JCW rims for the black version and do a accessport, then need to do a LED swap for the speedo along with NCS.

If you do the speedo LED swap, do a writeup on that! As far as I know it's pretty difficult and I haven't seen anyone in the states pull it off.

I've done it numerous times with other cars including my G37s and a MS3. I just need to know what LEDs to order before cracking it open.

Also, I do have a slight writeup for my Alpine Type R install. I am going to finish it once I make my amp rack/ subwoofer box all-in-one

Your going to love the AccessPort on a JCW, its even better if you get an FMIC. The AP has a different tune for MINI's with a FMIC. I need to black my headlights, was that much of a pain to do?

I love it, took a lot of work and I adjusted the auto headlight levels since I am playing with them. I recommend not toying with the screw adjustment and just unscrewing them and pulling them out.

I used a heat gun around and around with playing cards actually because I don't like the oven idea. Also, I am really good with a heat gun due to PS3 fixes (YLOD) but if you want more help PM me and I will give you direct instructions or direct contact to me for help (I don't give out help to people that will mess things up)

I mainly used a primer then plastic black then clear then I used VHT on the turn signals. I love the outcome. I think I might be ordering the protector itself the pepper white spray touchup to do, but I am not sure of if it will upset my pepperwhite/black scheme. I plan on removing ALL CHROME. I am not a fan of chrome and I ordered my black license today for 995 for 10 years for my name =/ so I hope to keep it for many cars even though I own three already. Eeek.

But I plan on heavily modding this JCW till it "dies" on me and needs a new motor. I need to order the NCS expert wire so I can modify the sport mode and headlights so I don't have to press them every time I get in, along with my LEDs that are in my parking lights and tails.

Also, I will be posting a tail light DIY either tomorrow or the next day on doing the tint inside of the taillights for legal reasons

I have the FMIC on mine already but is there an upgrade to it?! I hate to say it but 895.00USD is a lot for a tune =/ I keep kinda regretting the order.

The headlights are a few hours of work and PATIENCE! Have a few drinks and leave them be and you will be okay, remember one thing....LET THE PAINT DRY before another coat. I had one set I did for a friend flake because we didn't clear it or do enough coats because he was in a hurry. Just take 1 can per light, that is my rule of thumb.

Another note for those wondering, I have 5% all around from my Mini dealer. They approved it and warranty it so I stuck with it.

Nice car. As far as mods go, get a catch can asap. Also, Alta AP, a DP, and FMIC.

If you're serious about modding and keeping your car safe, get a Howerton Eng HFS-3 Water/meth kit.

Wow great looking car. Me and drewster ^^ are partial to PW because we both have the same color combo JCW's

Just a thought though, you should look into body color matching the headlight rings and the tail light rings. Something so simple makes a huge difference on the PW body. And if you're thinking about black rims (they look great!) always consider a powdercoater to just change your current setup. Might save you some serious money.

and finally, the AP is fun on these JCW. Good luck and continue on!

A write-up would be great. The first thing I though wat that the lighting in the JCW cars should have been red.

As far as I know, the LEDs in the speedo are all shaped like the numbers.

Thanks for all the comments :D I can't wait to get my hands on the LEDs or a extra speedo to do this since I don't wanna pull apart my JCW and be without a daily driver =/

Man, that is an absolutely stunning car! Extremely well done, and everything looks really clean and cool. I love the headlights, especially. The tinting looks really cool and I’m considering doing it to my car (CR/B colour combo). Does it affect light output at all, though?

Also, sorry if this was answered and I just didn’t realise it, but how did you do it? You just opened the housing, pulled off the lens/casing, and tinted it using window tint or something? I’m not entirely familiar with tinting, so sorry if this question is dumb.

Since you like light mods so much, too, have you considered something like this? I think it could look really cool!

Don't know how I missed this! Sorry for re-asking the same question.

No output of the light issues, I think there is a cleaner cutoff line because there is no reflection other than the projector. I just mainly did the Joey Mod with pulling out the chrome pieces of the headlight and painting them Black then I went and painted the projector housing Pepper White once I received my paint. It really isn't that hard to work with but you need patience.

Also, I have considered putting LEDs in the open holes of the projector housing but I think I have enough for my local LEOs to flip out on and they seem to dislike things like that (Lots of attention in my G37s with a headlight mod that is close).

I really do love this R56 PW/B and I can't wait to get new tires here in a few days :D
