R53 GP VS built JCW R56?
My ole 03 JCW is built up to GP standards with a 15% pulley to boot, how would it stack up against this car on side to side drag?

, I'm trying find the money and trying to sell my car to buy his ,,,,, I know good luck
Having driven both a more-or-less stock '10 JCW and a pretty well modded '05 R53, I'd say the JCW would probably edge ahead in a straight line. The R53 feels faster seat of the pants because the throttle response is more instantaneous, but the JCW DEFINITELY pulls harder through the mid-range. The key there for me is that the R53 is basically maxed-out (bolt-on wise) at the JCW's baseline. I do prefer the steering feel and relative lack of torque-steer on the R53 though...

I have run Phil Wicks R53 Race car and my JCW stock on tracks-not the same track. The JCW is faster. Mid Range puts it down on the track. Brakes are not even close. That was before I added race pads- stopping power is sick now. I still may buy the race car as it set up for the track and fully adjustable suspension you can progress with. Also a lot said about having a full cage when when hitting over 120. Snowball speed.

Still NOT like a gp...(you modded '02).
gp is lighter...less insulation, different floor pan, tge gearing of a 2005 s, the poerted head, bigger ic, jcw injectors....the list goes on and on....

Hate to start a pissing contest, add fuel to the flames, etc.... but, to be honest, this is the overall impression I've gotten from coming back to this forum after selling my R53 a few years back. I'm trying to decide if I should go the (stock) R53 JCW route or R56 S (with JCW Tuning Kit) / (stock) R56 JCW route and (to me) reliability is as equally as important as performance.
Well, I have traded my 2003 JCW with bigger injectors, GP IC ,a 15% pulley, and minor suspension mods(ran with a GP and ran away) and the 2009 JCW is a bunch more quick in the mid range to the point overwhelming the tires all the time! (gotta get some real wide sticky tires next summer!) . It won't rev as sweet as the ole 03 , maybe I miss the supercharger intake music! The electronic diff works good without the traction control on.However the R56 JCW feels fat, less inspired, less fun driving. The shifting is rubbery, but I had a short shifter in the ole 03. The steering is Buicky even with the "sport" button . Whats up with that? People that buy JCW's need a extreme "sport" button
. As far as the steering ,it seems to only throw a big squirrel in the wheel well because it seems to be only stiffer not quicker. Is the lock to lock less? The 09 has the optional JCW suspension, I would hate to order one with the suspension that is standard it would have to be real Buicky . The seats don't have the same support . The headlights are much improved, and the dodads are a big WOW . The brakes are nice but I had oem MCS brakes on my old 03. What's with the carpety like stuff for wheel well liners? Well theres my rample. The 2009 JCW is growing on me ,these are only my first impressions , nice to have a car with less than 20k verus 100K !

With a competent driver the R56 should win. The power delivery should be much better then that of the OP's R53.
Over all the R56 is just a better platform regardless of the bad rap it's had because of the headaches they have caused. If maintained and set up right they are very competitive with basic engine and suspension bolt ons while staying reliable.
