Did you find anything out yet? I ask because my 2012 JCW Coupe is starting production next week. I don't mean to set you off but it could be that the factory is perfecting aero kits on the limited run of JCW Coupes instead of the likely higher production run of Hatches.

The 2012 JCW Coupe started production this past Tuesday. It should be competed by this coming Wednesday.

I was told that the JCW hatchbacks were going into an ordering pool and in a month or so the you should get a production number as they are assigned.

I went in yesterday to put my deposit down on a JCW hatchback but my wife gott a little sidetracked by another Mini. So we ended up selecting another model.

 

The delay wasn't for a fitment issue, it was to ramp up production of the Aero parts. Oddly the Clubman DOESN'T get the Aero kit as standard. :( Just one more expense I guess.

 

I hope mine goes for an October production...but my MA who is also my wife is not so optimistic. She'd like me to wait anyway. I think not.

 

I placed the order about a week ago. Was originally told November build, then moved to end of October once the order was placed. I hope to get it before Christmas.

There four 2012 JCWs in stock at Mini Downtown (Toronto). All have the factory aero kit, they were not dealer installed. The front grill surround is chrome though. Wish I took some pics!

So I would think your car will have the aero kit for sure.

All I know is that the 2012 MINIUSA configurator is up and all the images are with a *black* grille surround. If our ordered cars come with chrome (and we don't want it), I'm sure it should be reasonable for the dealers to swap it out for us.

 

Yes, confirmed 2012s, as per sales advisor and the tag on the window. I was skeptical too when I first saw them.

The chrome surround doesn't look too bad actually. I'd prefer black, but I could live with the chrome. Was told it was a ~$200 part to change to black.

 

I just opened the configurator (the US page) and as of 0900 CET (0300 EST) it still had the blurb about having the 2011 info but it has most of the 2012 options. And it has the BLACK Challenge wheels showing as standard and they should still be silver with black being optional. It's also isn't telling you that you can't get the adaptive xenons with the black housings so I'm not sure how accurate the site is right now.

 

Strange. When I'm on the site, the MSRP reflects the price increase and all the JCW cars show the standard aero kit too. Also, the packages have all been changed to reflect the package bundles for 2012.

Typically, how long from being assigned a production number to delivery? Naturally, I'm asking because I got my number earlier this week and the days suddenly started to drag out longer and longer...

 

It's hard to say according to my wife who is an MA here in Atlanta. It could be as long as two months, but she said you are lucky to already have a production number. She also mentioned if you would like to PM me your info (production number) she could look it up for you on her end and give you a better idea. I can't wait to get my production number! I've got an MCS on order with the JCW Aero kit from the factory and mine is about to go into production now. I just ordered it a week ago. I had thought November too on the aero kit issue but they must have sorted it out. I expect mine in early December.
