235/40/17 on stock jcw challenge spokes anyone?

I have been running 215/45/17 on my 09 jcw challenge spokes. Has anyone
used 235/40/17 on the stock rims without rubbing?

Thanks for letting everyone know.

I've been running 215/45/17 on my stock challenge spokes, but I definitely wouldn't run 235/40 on them, they aren't wide enough.

That said, as soon as I get a job, I'll be buying genuine challenge wheels and putting 235/40 on those for sure.

Seems like too much...

As prior poster said, a 7" rim isn't going to be spec'ed for that width and profile tire.

FWIW though I am running 225/45-17's on Challenge rims. That works with no rubbing at all on a stock R56 S w/ factory sport suspension. Specifically, tires are Michelin PS2's. As you go wider (in whichever profile), look specifically at the sidewall measurement spec. To be clear too, specifically the sidewall width, NOT the tread width, which are two different things. TireRack shows it for many, but not all, tires. It varies by several tenths of an inch in some tires of the same nominal size. Having focused on it, had I picked a choice with a wider sidewall measurement, the sidewall (and not the tread edge) might have rubbed on the inner sidewall and the front fender liner. It clears completely as I said, but the free space is pretty small as it now stands.

For autox I'm currently running a 245/40/17 with a 3mm spacer and it doesn't rub. Hope that helps.

Not the best photo, but these are 235/40-17s.

I'm curious to see 245s as well but I'd never be able to run that size without them rubbing on my coilovers, especially in the front.

The genuine challenge wheels are 7.5" wide as opposed to only 7" wide on the stock wheels. Possibly they're lighter too, but that's just a guess.

According to:
http://www.minigenuineparts.co.uk/mi...lengeR112.html

The genuine challenge wheels are also 38 offset vs 48 offset on the JCW R112 wheels. But the Challenge car uses wheel studs, so I don't know if these genuine challenge wheels will fit on our road cars with no modifications needed!

No issues at all then with the 235/40 set up on JCW Challenge rims?
