JCW Spare Tire

Have any of you found a space saver spare tire that will fit the back of a JCW? The dealer tells me the spare that they sell fits the back of an MCS, but not the JCW. Is there a spare from another car that would work, maybe a 16" space saver. Apparently the MCS and JCW use the same rear caliper, but the JCW has a slightly larger rotor and it is enough to cause interference. Right now I carry a full size spare when I travel outside my local area.

Maybe this will work. Our friends at Detroit Tuned have a real MINI space saver spare on special for $110. http://www.detroittuned.com/shop/?productID=504

Thats the one you can get at any MINI dealer and the two local dealers told me it will not fit the back of a JCW. It only fits a MCS or a Justa. I already called Detroit MINI and they said it might fit, which to me is a non answer.

It will not fit over the front JCW caliper but it will fit the back. If the front tire goes, it's more work but you first put the spare on a rear and put the rear up front.

Yes, I know if the front goes flat you move a rear tire to ther front and put the spare on the rear. I am asking specifically if anyone knows of a spare that fits the rear of a JCW, please see my original post. Again, the two local dealers told me that the spare they sell only fits on the rear and only fits on an MCS or a Justa, but will not fit on the rear of a JCW. Does anyone here with a factory JCW (2nd generation) have any actual experiance with a space saver spare for their 2nd gen. JCW.

Can't say for sure because I haven't done it but I heard that the space saver spare does indeed fit over the rear calipers of an R56 JCW.

JCW spare

The Rim Mini sells for the Justa and Cooper S will NOT fit on the rear of the JCW without a spacer. I purchased the factory space saver rim from Classic Mini. The rim just touched the caliper,IT only cleared the caliper with the use of a 5mm. spacer. The JCW caliper and pads are the same as the S. The rotor and caliper hanger are slightly larger causing the problem, and the apparent confusion. Use a spacer and the space saver rim and it will work,it did for me.Take it easy,But take it. Ken R.

Thanks for your replies. Space saver with a spacer sounds like the answer I'm looking for. Thanks again.

Back when I was wheel shopping, I realized that older 4x100 honda's have the same center bore (56.1mm) as we do so you can try a junk yard and look for these models:

1997 1998 Acura Integra GS, RS, LS, Type R, GS-R,
1994 Acura Integra GS, LS, RS, GS-R,
2001 Acura Integra GS, LS, GS-R, Type R,
1995 1996 Acura Integra GS, LS, Special Edition, RS, GS-R,
1992 1993 Acura Integra GS, RS, LS, GS-R,
2000 Acura Integra GS, LS, Type R, GS-R,
1990 1991 Acura Integra GS, RS, LS,
1999 Acura Integra GS, LS, GS-R,
1999 Honda Civic GS, Si, LX, CX, HX, EX, Value Package, DX, GX,
2000 Honda Civic GS, Si, HX, EX, DX, LX, CX, GX,
1998 Honda Civic GS, Si, LX, CX, HX, EX, DX, GX,
1989 Honda Civic GS, Si, RT 4WD, Wagovan, LX, DX, Base, CX,
1990 1991 Honda Civic GS, Si, RT 4WD, EX, Base, LX, DX, CX,
1994 Honda Civic GS, EX, Si, DX, CX, VX, LX,
1997 Honda Civic GS, Si, CX, LX, HX, EX, DX,
1996 Honda Civic GS, DX, Si, CX, LX, HX, EX,
1988 Honda Civic GS, RT 4WD, Wagovan, LX, DX, Base, SE,
1993 1995 Honda Civic GS, Si, EX, DX, VX, CX, LX,
1992 Honda Civic GS, Si, EX, DX, CX, VX, LX,

With that being said, I cannot confirm whether or not there will be caliper interference, but I will try this out this week and report back.

You got lucky: the Mini doughnut spare would not fit without dragging - lightly, but still dragging - on the rear brake caliper on my '09 JCW Clubman, with the 5mm spacer. Still much better than with no spacer, so I'd be willing to bet a 10 mm spacer would work.
Instead, already having the 5mm spacer - based on your post - I ground a little bit off the edge of the "spider" or wheel center in the weld area on the back side of the rim, and eliminated the interference. Then I shot a little paint on it, and now have a perfectly functional spare.
But I'd recommend the 10mm spacer to anyone else. There's an outfit out on the West Coast that will sell you just one. Extended lugbolts are also not needed, since there's plenty of extra thread on the stock ones to accommodate an addition 3/8"
And the spacer can double as a spare-tire hold-down!

I just wanted to give an update on my claim. I ended up buying a 15" spare off of a honda, but it wasn't even close to clearing the calipers.

Is this the same kit we're discussing here?
