Best color for Selling in Future?

I am looking to place an order for a 2011 JCW with the red roof. I have owned nothing but black cars for the past 5 years, and am looking for opinions on the best resale color for a JCW with Red roof.

I am torn 3 main colors; Eclipse Grey, Midnight Black or Pepper white.

Since I am partial to black, I would love to know how MINI paint stands up to daily use and whether it shows swirls easily. I would like to break away from having a black car at some point, but there is just something so sexy about a clean black car. Would I get the same effect or unique appearance from a Pepper White or Eclipse Grey?

As much as the JCW guys like to think their cars are exotic and special...they aren't Ferrari's. Your resale is not going to be affected much one way or another with the color you get.

Get the Black with red roof....very sexy combo. Pepper white is a horrible excuse for white, so I'd cross that one off your list.

I have never liked the shade of white (if you can call it white) on the Mini, BUT, with the addition of the red roof it might make it more bearable??? Possibly?

Eclipse Grey VS Black...best for a harsh climate, lots of snow, road salt, etc. I have a Jet Black BMW and this color is horrible for swirl marks, not wanting to have that happen again on a future vehicle.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the red roofs on these cars? I think it looks hideous.

If you don't want to see swirl marks, don't get black.
All black cars you will see the swirl marks more easyly.

Of the three colors you're considering, Pepper White will remain clean-looking for far longer than the other two. Dark colors seem to amplify every imperfection (including swirls), but light colors seem to hide them well.

I've owned several white vehicles, and no matter how dirty I've let them get, they always cleaned up like new. My sister also had a white vehicle, the finish on which she absolutely neglected; but when someone finally took a bucket and rag to it, it still always cleaned up like a new penny.

If your main question is which color is most durable and easy-to-maintain (and will therefore look best for future resale), Pepper White is your color.

Sorry... I do not care for the red roofs either.

Best color for resale? Jeez pick a color you like. You give somebody a good price they will buy anything.

Case in point. I went in to order a moderately optioned Mellow Yellow JCW... I walk out with a fully loaded Laser Blue JCW. Too good of a deal to pass up.

If I can purchase the new JCW I would get Red Top with Black Body.

I think the new colour combo kickass. Just my 2cent. =D

Midnight black is nothing like jet black....you won't have as much of an issue with swirl marks as you do now.

My Astro black shows no swirl marks ever...its the easiest "black" to take care of that I've ever seen.

Yup......

Black with red roof....dark tint, blacked out trim, red bonnet stripes down the middle, lowered on black 18's with red calipers.....would be so hot. Then have the rooster red leather and trim/black interior. Perfect MINI.

Unless you pick a color or color-combo that's truly, let's call it, for a very unique taste (like a red roof ), I don't see it really affecting resale value. I mean, if I check out used car prices, color tends to only affect price by at most $50. For a possibility of only $50, I would get what you enjoy.

OK, thanks....I guess resale is not all that critical then. However, in my market, the total number of R53 and R56 JCW's would be below 20....so I am not wanting to hurt any future sales on a vehicle that would be considered a niche model.

My market is approx 1 million population with a few surrounding communities of 300,000 and the next closest large market is 900,000 but you would have to travel approx 150 miles to get there.

Well Astro Black is a horrible excuse for black. Just kidding, kinda I was so mad when I ordered my Cooper and the dealer basically told me it was jet black, only to find out it was actually just dark blue when it arrived. It only looked black in the rain or if it was cloudy, other than that it looked blue. And it NEVER looked clean. I washed it at least twice a week just because of how fast it got dirty. And I don't know how you didn't get swirls, mine were everywhere! I didn't like PW at first, but now that I own it I love how it looks, and how nice it looks when it's clean.

e46jb, for generations, wise and cultured people have acknowledged that the MINI looks best in Pepper White.

Pepper White's aesthetic advantages are not a matter of taste or personal preference, but can be scientifically established. The research, studies, and corroborative data have been published in a number of professional journals.

So, the perfect JCW would of course be Pepper White with a Pepper White roof, but that would mean having to repaint the red roof.

I should note, though, that while walking downtown the other day, I passed a new one parked on the street in black with the red roof and it so spun me around that I tripped, fell, and fractured my attitude.

Trust me....i'll agree with you there! My friend took delivery of her midnight black '11 today, and it made me wish mine was actually a proper black .

Love Astro....but it's very very blue.

Does anyone actually have a photo of a Pepper White Mini with Pepper white roof? I have ONLY seen them with the black roof/mirrors.

Might be a great and unique look to go ALL pepper white.

Take a look here or search for Laurel as they are PW cars.

Beings as I not a bit biased in my opinion, and having taken delivery of a Midnight Black/Chili Red roof, I guess that I said what I think. But, why haven't you considered the Silver/White too? That's a new color for 2011, well kinda, beings as the Camded had it last year, but there aren't that many of those around, either.

I like my Lil Guy more and more each day. Finally got license plates for it yesterday, and still trying to figure out what to do about the front license plate. I didn't have Patricks drill the holes for the bracket, but still not wanting to do the off set either. It's a nice $135. fine if I get stopped, according to our new Mini Dealer here in Iowa, so I do plan on putting one one, but decisions, decisions.

As for the Chili Red Roof, I love it, and everything else about this car. I also did the Red leather/black cloth too. That works too. Granted the Rooster Red and Chili Red are a bit off, but who cares, it's red.

As for swirl marks, I've put on, lightly granted, Zaino products and no swirl marks, the gloss is fantastic. Oh yes, finally got 600 miles on it today. Still have only tested the Sport Button. Hey, I'd be very satisfied with the powere it has WITHOUT the Sport Button. Nice, nice, nice.

Sorry, but I am not a fan of silver or the silver/white. I personally think they are 'safe' colors for someone who does not know what they are looking for.

I have narrowed down my decision to either black or eclipse grey with the red roof....but with winter arriving, I am having second thoughts on the JCW and curious about a Countryman All4.

As I mentioned just a few short weeks ago, my dealer's GM "soft-ordered" a JCW for me, built to my specs but no strings attached....buy it when it comes in or he'll just put it on the lot. Just found out Monday that it's due into VPC already on 11/19! Based on my past knowledge (and his) it could arrive at the dealer as early as next week, or the week after at the latest. It's going to be Eclipse Grey/Red and pretty lightly optioned. He also showed me a MCS on their floor with custom black perforated leather with red showing through the holes. It was way sweet looking, better quality than the factory and similar pricing, he says a local shop does it in one day turnaround for them. I think I will go for that and have a truly one of a kind.
The 0.9% financing through MINI Financial is very attractive so the only thing that would keep this from happening would be a way too lopsided trade-in offer (which is done by their next-door BMW dealer's used car manager.) I've been offering up my '09 for $22K on the Marketplace here with no takers...in Texas you do pay sales tax only on the difference of selling price minus trade-in, so there's some incentive to take less on trade.

Pepper White / Pepper White

e46jb, you asked for some pics of PW/PW, so here are a few of mine.

The MINI is one of those cars that looks great in a lot of different colors and also happens to wear stripes well, but I also like the look in plain vanilla.

We really wanted PW with the black roof, so much that we were going to get the roof painted black after we bought this one. What sold us on this was the beige leather. They've discontinued it for '11, so we couldn't order a new one with it from the dealer and decided to get this '09 from their lot.

Now that we've had it a few months, the white roof has grown on us. I think the tinted windows and checkered mirrors are just enough to set it off.

A lot of small, distinctively-styled cars show well in light colors.
