Price went up

I just saw on the MiniUSA configurator that the MSRP price for a JCW hardtop went up $700. It doesn't say if that is for a 2010 or 2011. I went in to order one about two weeks ago, but the dealer said they did not have any build slots for a 2010 JCW and did not know when they would have a build slot for a 2011, probably August or later, and I probably wouldn't be able to get one till February or later.

I think the $700 is the destination charge.

So it's still $28800 + $700 destination charge = $29500

You're right, the configurator used to list the destination charge seperately from the MSRP. Thanks for catching that for me.

When you order a JCW it only takes 6 to 8 weeks from start to finish. It does NOT take 7 months (February) ??

Thanks for your reply. I agree with you, I've seen several posts here on NAM of people saying they got their ordered JCW in eight weeks or less. The local dealer here says they don't have a build slot for a JCW and don't know when they will get one, it will take a month to get the JCW head and turbo from Germany to England (approximately 450 miles, apparently its being shipped by foot), the factory doesn't have the parts on hand because of lean manufacturing, once its built it could sit waiting for the transport for up to a month, and then up to another month to get to the west coast. They said if the other local dealer had a build slot, they might be able to trade an MCS slot for it, but probably not and it would involve some dealing (compensation). I asked aren't both local dealers the same company and owners? Well yes. We'll see what we can do. I have not heard back from them. I'll probably try a dealer in Nevada or Arizona or just give up. BTW, they did ask if I wanted to buy a WC50 for about 10 grand more than my JCW would cost, wrong color for me and no premium package. With tax and license that is between $47K and $48K.

Well, given that they don't have any 2010 slots left, it's certainly going to be more than 6-8 weeks before he could get one. The 2011's don't even start being built for another month or so, so even if they start building US-bound JCWs immediately when 2011 production starts, it's going to be at least another month longer than "normal". That said, the schedule for 2011's hitting the States is still speculative at the moment, and JCWs probably more so. February seems like an over-estimation, but it won't be anywhere near 6-8 weeks either if it has to be a 2011.

I was talking about a 2010. The 2011's should be here by October 2010.

An update. I went to the local dealers other store and they said "What? Who were you talking to?" I didn't tell them who. Anyhow, I now have a 2011 JCW on order and I should have- it in October.

I'm glad you asked another dealer assistant, I kinda felt they were giving you the run-around, probably to sell what they had off the lot. Yay! Congrats on your new incoming JCW (October isn't such a horrendous wait)! Anticipating seeing your pix when it comes in!

Was about to say, what a bunch of hokum from Dealer 1. I'm sure it varies between dealers, but the one I bought my JCW from was getting 2-3 build slots a month back in 2008. Mine was in my garage just five weeks from the day I ordered it. Even with the usual time off period between model years, October is a much more realistic timeframe for an '11.
