Is there anyone with M7 Super-AGS?

Is there anyone with M7 Super-AGS installed on their factory JCW cooper that can shed some light on performance gain, sound difference, ease of installation and BMW warranty impact? http://www.m7tuning.com/parts/produc...roducts_id=122

I am also interested to see...maybe just get that vs the alta? or maybe use the hood scoop flow deal and use the alta intake ... i hear good things about that part.

on an unrelated topics: anyone know of an ECU re-flash available? piggy backs can be sketchy. i cant seem to find anything anywhere.

however, i am continuing to LOVE my new JCW. 450 miles on the odo, keep em coming!

I thought the theory behind CAI systems was COLD air. If you install the M7 Super AGS, isn't it pulling hot air coming off the turbo as its air supply? Not being mechanically inclined or technical, why wouldn't they remove the grill in the hood scoop and add a pipe to direct some cooler air to the filter?

Well I just installed one on my regular S. Id say there is better throttle response throughout. I bought it used so I have to address a slight clunk when it hits the firewall. Probably due to the padding strip on the bottom being already squished and conformed to the previous mini...I also have the alta boost port which i need to make sure is fitting with it right.

Yeah it makes noise, but only when you really get on it... and i have the Forge BOV spacer thing and now under hard load instead of just a big 'whoosh' its a big 'whoosh + a slight whirring' sound...hard to describe.

Only other noise is its louder w the hood open... big deal lol

I also took out the scoop insert and painted the metal that is 'inside' black cause it is visible.. i took some pics but ill see if they turned out or not.

and x5jr...they did..its just a lot more $$$. the ags gets plenty of cold air back there away from the turbo, especially when moving

I just ordered the M7 AGS cold air intake (R56) , heat shield and strut tower brace. I think the M7 components are designed better than some of the other companies. I will probably be opening up the scoop grill or installing a vortex scoop later.

Do you have the heatshield installed or you just using the intake by itself? I have been looking at some of the posts in NAM, some posters don't like putting a heat shield on the turbo, but then if you don't, you might have the problem of the intake scoop starting to melt from the heat build-up. The point of having a heat blanket is to absorb some of the heat and dissipate it at a slower rate. I don't think it would be much of a problem unless you are idling in heavy trafficwith no air flow. Others have mentioned the intake not getting enough cool air. Have you had any problems?

no problems here. not heat shield / no grille in scoop / open AGS.

i would think that by taking the grille out of the stock scoop it would help it to not warp as the heat can escape a lot more freely. I do want a turbo wrap, but only to keep the heat going out the exhaust while driving..im sure the scoop will be alright.

i have no clue how much cool air gets to the intake...i assume quite a bit from the scoop, but i have not had any issues with it

Just installed the AGS today, need to look at the proximity of the Strut tower brace. Sound wise I do hear a lot more blow off from the turbine. bit of rumble at low speeds and low range RPM's I will look tomorrow and see f I can identify where it is at. As for the heat shield my first scoop started to melt around 10,000 miles. Dealership changed it out for a CF scoop and I put the M7 Heat Shield on with less then 100 feet of driving. As for warranty I will probably change back to stock before it goes in pulling both the AGS and heat shield. I have 9000 miles before that happens and I will keep you all informed. Pictures in gallery tomorrow.
