I had the Boost and Lateral-G gauges installed recently. I have to say, don't waste your money on the G gauge. It does not have a left and right needle or measurement for you to review. If you think you can watch this gauge while taking a curve at 1G, at any speed, guess again. Until you have it, you don't realize there is no way to know what your performance was.

anymore word on these guages?
Photos???

I see that morristown mini is now selling the guagues for $71each (instead of retail $89) and the adapter is $240 (for a 2 guage setup, instead of the $315 retail).
Looking at all the options out there the total price from Morristown mini is about the same as an Alta setup, ...huge difference the Mini gauges are much easier to install and don't require drilling, etc... ...so torn as to which gauges to get.

would love to hear some 1st hand accounts of how people like their gauges ...especially water + torque.

I would get 2 craven gauge pods and mounting braket and electronic autometer or defi boost and oilpressure gauges.

there's a few pictures up of people with the new "Mini" gauges from Marshall, I believe the group buy is still in effect. Mine are a bit behind as the stepper motor boost gauges are being done special order, regular mechanical are in-stock.

- edit
oops, thought you were looking for photos of the 'other' ones.

yep, just torn, ...do i want to open up the dash and center column, drill, route wires, etc... or plug just plug into the OBD computer. The Marshal, and other after market guages are much much nicer looking, ...think I may just go for it (marshal or autometer gauges).

Same here. Not a fan of splicing wiring in my Mini. I wonder if the JCW gauges require programming once installed.

Edit: Found out, no programming required. Everything just plugs in, no splicing either.

Marshall gauges

I just took delivery on marshall water temp stepper gauge and a mechanical boost gauge with craven speed mounts, $350. They match the tach and speed gauges exactly.

What i like to know is:

1) will aftermarket 60mm gauges fit into the JCW gauge cups.
2) is the gauge cups and mounting brackets available WITHOUT the JCW gauges

reason: So i can use the JCW gauge holder to mount my DEFI meters.

Don't know about 1, but the mounting brackets are part of the installation kit. Unless you can find a dealer willing to separate the parts in the kit, they're not available separately.

My 2010 JCW is at the port now, came in on Friday 10-30-09.
My MA called me On Friday and told me that the Port can now instal my temp gauge. So I will have it done at the port instead of the dealer. I will have the dealer instal ,The JCW steering wheel, Strut brace, Shift ****, and parking brake handle. I will post some photos after I get the car, Next week end, I hope!!

Ron Avery, I have a 09 JCW and just had marshall gauges installed. They are way nicer then the BMW gauges that I have seen. I think you would be much happier

I know this is a thread for the R56 folks, and I may have missed it somewhere in here, but I wanted to chime in with some gauge info for consideration. Here's a pic of my R53 fitted with the Marshall Gauges in the Craven Speed Pods. I am using Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, Water Temp, and Boost in my car, however there are other options in gauge choices. A silver needle center is available for a more exact match of the MINI gauges. As you can see, mine have the black centered needles because that's what I had gotten from the previous car owner and I saw no reason to spend my money replacing the two I already had just for the sake of a silver needle center. Actually the black works very nicely with my interior colors. Also, these light up either amber (MINI like) or white depending on your wiring choice. Contact Steve @ Custom MINI Shop in Fresno, CA for your Marshall and Craven needs... His number is 559-320-0004, or go to www.customminishop.com.

The Mini versions by Marshall are more than just silver centers, he also got rid of the extra writing and turned the numbers and changed the font so they match the tach. They actually look much more oem then the add-on gauges from Mini. They even come w/ extra chrome rings so they can be matched to a chromeline interior.. Marshall worked really hard with the forum to get them spot on.
