I went by my dealer this morning and they quoted $305 for the single gauge and $315 for the double... Not sure about labor yet....
Wow, that's cheap considering the aftermarket alternatives that use a controller setup like that. But I'm suspicious that the second gauge will only cost 10 extra. Are you sure that includes the gauges and not just the controller and mounting pod kit?
Yea that is fairly cheap. Is that price for gauges and harness kit?? The install pdf at motoring file says an hour labor. So I'm guessing 100 dollars for the install. Not much difference in price for single instead of double. If that is the case and it works out to that price, I'll go for the double, coolant temp and relative torque.
I took a copy of the pdf file that was attached to the thread. They entered the parts numbers, and whamo. So it assumes the part numbers are all-inclusive....

Actually, I think those part numbers in the install guide are just for the install kit and controller. Gauges are sold separately so you can pick the one or two that you want.
So, I'm guessing that price is just for the controller, wiring harness, and mounting hardware. Gauges will probably be a hundred or so extra. Still not a terribly bad price when you compare it to the Auto Meter Nexus kit that uses a computerized controller and factor in that you don't have to hack into your cars wiring.
Still, too bad it doesn't allow real gauges; boost, oil temp . . . .
My SA saw these pods at the dealer breakout for the cabrio and said they just dont look right when installed, and very cheap looking. he also agrees that they're pretty useless, save for water temp, unless U REALLY want to impress the chicks with yr later G-forces
Yikes... Just got too expensive for my tastes... The non-JCW options appear to be much more affordable....
Well it really depends. If you go with something like the Auto Meter Nexus system which is a similarly computer controlled system, you'll actually have to spend more and then you still have to run sensors for each gauge you want.
So its like $350 for the Dual Gauge pod? and then another $200ish for the gauges? I want the pod as I want boost and oil pressure in there. What where the part #s for just the dual pod?
Bringing in my JCW tomorrow to get CF mirror covers, oil and filter change and possibly a couple of gauges installed. Hope they don't look cheap like some have said. Will report back if I go through with it.

Boost is not offered in this package, a HUGE omission IMO
Anyone had these installed yet. What is the total cost, gauges, harness and mounting kit, and installation charges??
I was in for service on Thursday and was asking about getting them installed. My sales advisor talked me out of them and recommended the Alta kits. Then I asked my service advisor about them and he said more of the same. I was really planning on getting these. . .

Wasn't expecting that. . .
I went and checked on the Alta gauge for the mini. I'm not sure I'd do that one for water temperature. It entails installing a sensor by drilling into the coolant reservoir and then drilling through the firewall for snaking the wire through. That is alot more trouble than I'm willing to do. For all that I'd go get a scan gauge II and just read water temperature from the OBC. Mini already has a sensor installed somewhere you just have to tap into the OBC to get it. I'd prefer that route and would prefer an analog readout that cleanly installed. I'll probably go with the Mini gauge if it doesn't cost too much. If it does a scan gauge II. The PLX-DM-200 OBDII is nice but requires you to plug it into the lighter for power. I'd also prefer one that is powered through the OBDII which scan gauge appears to do. The mini gauge also is wired direct for power.

Drilling into the coolant reservoir is not the only option for installing a water temp gauge. A company called Prosport in St. Petersburg, FL sells the gauges that are offered by Alta and they also sell a sensor connector that fits between hoses carrying the coolant. It goes below the coolant reservoir and has a threaded part into which a sensor can be installed. I've had mine now for over two months and it works fine. No leaks, no problems. If you go to www.prosportgauges.com you'll see the gauges and the connector. They don't call it a connector but I can't recall the nomenclature at the moment. Give it a try.
I had my water temp gauge and boost gauge installed by the shop that does my maintenance and I think I paid about $350 for the job. The only complaint I have about the gauges is the one that you choose to install to the left of the tach picks up heavy glare from the driver's door window.

Thanks, but I'd still prefer an option of just pulling out the data that is already there.

I'm with you. I'm definitely not going to add more sensors to this car, it has enough of them already. I was just surprised when my dealer told me their gauges were silly toys. So now I am looking at alternatives.
I really wish there was an OBD II analog style gauge. Why has no one made this yet?
The PLX stuff is nice, but I really don't want two little TVs next to my tach. And the scangauge and dashdaq are not what I am looking for, i want a gauge.
I think I am just going to have to be patient and wait for a better option.
Just so you lot know on prices, i just ordered a set from my dealer, Temp gauge and lateral G.
Cost delivered to me for the two gauges and the fitting kit was £195 which works out about $280 all in. So you may want to cheque the prices you are being told.
