Not Taking Delivery

I received a call from my MA today that my week 37 '09 JCW was damaged while being moved at the Charleston,SC VDC. According to him the details are not available as to how it happened(at this time) other than the drivers door and rocker panel sustained enough damage for them to warrant replacement. In addition the factory didn't install the correct seats(I ordered rooster red it has grey cloth). No surprise I've refused to take delivery and after the wait and the anticipation it's a big disappointment. Now I'm trying to decide between a re-order or waiting for the JCW R57 Cabrio build slot early next year.

Sorry to hear, that stinks and poor Mini. So close to making it home.

Regarding HT or 'vert: I usually keep one 'vert in the garage, so I can see the attraction there. Although that always seems to be the lowest mileage car (maybe need to rethink that).

Keep us updated.

Why? Repairs at the VDC are historically perfect. You can make an issue about the seats, but...

That's too bad. I'm a little surprised they would have let you order the Rooster Red interior on an Oxygen Blue JCW Cooper, though.

OXYBLUECOOP I am really sorry to hear that but a wise decision not to accept delivery based on what you posted.

I didn't order an OB(I own one) it was a '09 CR/R factory JCW.

Sorry to hear. If this had happened to me, I would probably still accept delivery if they had agreed to do a substantial discount, like half the value of the car! I would have to closely examine the repaired sections first though before I make a decision.

That's good. A Rooster Red interior would look weird in an OB JCW!

I LOVE my Rooster Red appointments.

eh, everything happens for a reason. Now you have more options and time. Who knows, you may be laid off next week (not wishing that on anyone). It's not the best time in the world for buying things...47k!?!? wow

Well I decided not to wait for the R57 and ordered another JCW today.Other than a color change to LiB/LiB the specs are the same.Attachment 37986 Hopefully this time she'll make it to the dealer unscathed.Delivery scheduled sometime around mid January which leaves plenty of time for my MCS engine into a MC project.

That's one hot loaded JCW! Nice! I see you are getting bunch of accessories installed. May I ask what the total installation cost is?

I ordered the convenience package plus, but missed ordering the Smartphone Prep. I have an iPhone and that ended up being a mistake (can't use iPod integration from the armrest). Just an FYI: you might want to review and see if that's something you want (for an extra $100). It's not part of the package.

Thanks for the tip! I plan on ditching the HD radio from the build list tomorrow so I'll just add the Smartphone prep since I have an iPhone also.

Around $1200. I'll be installing all the CF goodies and the driving lights.

Excellent and congrats on your new order

I am sure it will be worth the wait and the time should pass by fast

a damaged door and a rocker panel are no big deal, after all VDC is an extension of the factory. what concerns me are these tales of woe regarding misbuilds of interior items that are increasing in frequency. cant these workers get their shiite together??

Holy crap..................a $50K MINI.................cheeze louize that's a lot of money.

(no reference being made to the sanity of the OP for spending this much money on a MINI - that's a lot of money for any car IMHO)

Because it has nothing to do with sanity. It's not really anyone else's business if he chooses to spend $50K on a MINI.

I spent more than that a few years ago on an M3. I feel I got my money's worth. I spent over $35K on my JCW. I suppose someone who spend $20K on a Cooper might think that's outrageous, but so what. But for them there is someone else who spent $4K on a beater that thinks $20K for a car is excessive. So what. It's all a matter of priorities.
