Well, I'm now part of the JCW club.

Decided I didn't want to wait on an 09 Convertible, so I emailed the dealership the specs on a car to see how long till I could get it. Low and behold, the car I wanted - minus Nav - was sitting in their showroom. I didn't get up intending to buy a car, but I sure went to bed with one!

OMFG it's a screamer!

Congrats! What color did you get and from what dealership? I got my JCW from MoD last week.

If you're asking me, mine was the CR/Blk pretty loaded except Nav. Getting the JCW steering wheel put on as well as some hood stripes. What color is yours?

The same, CR/B w/o nav too. I need to get some pictures up. I went in to pick up some wiper blades and left with a new Mini.

This car is so awesome. I am ready to drive anywhere to get break in over.

I picked my AB/AB w/ NAV up at MINI of Dallas on Monday July 28th. I love it, although since I live downtown, I haven't been able to notice much of a difference between this and my 07 MCS. The roads are pretty weak, and I've got a light every 30 seconds, so I don't get out of 3rd often.

I've got to get the clear bra on it before I venture out onto the highway - too many gravel haulers in this part of the country.

I think it looks great without any changes. It will sink down some as you drive it awhile so you shouldn't waste any money on lowering springs which just lead to other problems. Read Motoringfile and you'll get a lot better, independent advice on the JCW suspension than from vendors lurking here on NAM with obsequious complements and suggestions for new buyers. The worse thing i ever did with a new R56 was to install new springs and tint. It bottomed out constantly and made terrible grinding sounds and I had to view it all through a lot of bubbles in the windows. It cost over a grand and I spent almost that much to go back to stock. Best advice I heard on this forum was to wait a year before doing anything to mod your car. You'll preserve the value and warranty and will have a better perspective after driving the car awhile.

I was in Service at MoD last Saturday and they brought your car in to clean it up -- I put a few nose prints on it looking around. VERY nice!

I got an AB/AB as well- just missing the Nav. I was very disappointed in MINI and what they turned the Nav into. My 03 and my 06 both had Nav and I enjoyed them. MINI tried to go the iDrive route and for me personally missed the mark.

I will say the JCW -- FREAKIN' ROCKS! 4500 RPM and under 90 MPH is haaaard.

I've got an AB/AB on order as well. It's been stalled at the VDC for far too long now... I was supposed to take delivery around July 15th and it keeps getting pushed back. All of the reports on how wonderful the JCW is are not helping me feel patient...

Mine is in Halifax being loaded on a train today so a couple more weeks of agony.

Got my fix last night and test drove the JCW clubman they had at the dealership.

So after 2 months I finally got my AB JCW. Wow is all I can say, of course I have been driving a pontiac grand am for the last 4 years so I can't really compare, but so far it is all I was hoping for.

The handling is great, I have the sport suspension. The ride is a little bumpy but well worth the handling. I can't say how much it differs from standard but it feels great. The acceleration is great, and that was before I turned sport mode on. Sport mode really makes a difference, it is interesting to turn sport mode off while you are accelerating, you can feel it get dumbed down.

The engine and exhaust sound great, I thought it would be a little more audible in the cockpit, but it still sounds good.

Though it has nothing to do with the JCW, Watch out for reverse I am used to reverse being on top right so I almost put my car into a curb as I attempted to back into a parking spot in 5th gear.

I haven't tried turning off any of the stability controls, I don't think I am ready for that

The only problem so far was the radio, and I started a thread on that earlier, so I won't rehash it here.

So for those of you waiting, try not to think about it, it will go by faster than you realize. Of course I think we have lost half of our JCW crowd on the forums, everyone is too busy driving to post anymore . I am only posting cause my baby is in the hospital. I will get some pics up as soon as I get it back.

I remember that type of wait! Stinks! Good luck. Maybe a nice bottle of wine would help?

One week later still waiting and told that it will now be next week at the earliest. So far my car is 4 weeks late and my dealership and MA have blown six delivery deadlines. If I had any leverage I'd hit them over the heads with it but demand exceeds supply by such a huge margin I have no bargaining chips. Once the car comes in I'll forget all this in a flash. In the meantime I have nothing to do but hate (cuz waiting got old about 3 weeks ago).

I just loved the MINI R55 JCW. I started with a stock 67 Mustang "back in the day" and always wondered what it might of been like to get a Shelby GT 350 or 500 from the factory.
I think I just got one.....A MINI that is. Love the look and the community surrounding this car brand.

I really have appreciated all of the good advice on this thread as this car seemed hard to find out all of the details since it is so new.

I believe this is the only one in Charlotte...for now.

Break in advice? No more than 4000 RPM in any gear and vary the throttle to not run engine at constant RPM for long time?

Some of those nose prints on your car were mine.

Sweet ride, good call on the Aero Kit too. I love mine.

I'm not a fan of the look of tints, especially here in CA where we can't tint the front windows, resulting in a contrast that looks goofy to me. If your tint bubbled, you got a horrible tint and I wouldn't scare people off of tints, especially those people in hot climates, because you got a bad tint.
Buying springs alone is the cheap route. I went with quality coilovers and my car doesn't bottom out, handles better, looks far better, rides better, and never rubs. The only drawback to lowering is the added care needed when approaching or backing out of driveways.

Anyone know what VDC serves Washingotn, DC?

My MA tells me my BRG Club is somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic, slated to hit port on Monday.

New Jersey VDC (Port of New York) serves the Washington area dealers.

I'm now waiting to be in the club too!!

09 JCW Laser Blue/Black
Black Bonnet Stripes
Rear Fogs
Comfort Access
Ipod/Bluetooth
Multi-function wheel (hoping Santa will bring me a JCW wheel)
Xenon Headlamps
JCW Aero-Kit

I may not have spent nearly as much as everyone else... but I certainly will smile just as much.

Decent spec - dump the comfort access and substitute Xenons. And don't forget the heated seats if you need em.
