We met with our dealer's techie today, to get our remaining questions about our new to us 2022 MINI convertible answered. The final question was, what does the bottom button at the end of the turn signal stalk do? The top button goes through a list of optional display items on the HUD (Heads Up Display.) But nothing seemed to happen when we pressed the lower button.

Our techie explaing that the bottom button doesn't do anything unless the headlight high beams are on. Then it activates auto-switching from high beams to low beams whenever oncoming traffic is detected. Since we do all our driving in town or on busy highways, we may never use this feature. But it is nice to know it's available, and how to activate it.

 

Yep, that's what it does. I rarely use it, but it does work really well on twisty mountain roads.

I think the headlight switch has to be in auto for it to work, but I'm not 100% on that.

 

Memory trigger, forgive please. My grandpa always drove Caddys. Early 60's they came out with a light sensor on the dashboard to turn off the high beams when oncoming headlights were detected. Turned out, reflective road signs did the same thing so when driving at night he'd park his hat over the damned thing.

Man, you really had my hopes up. I recently got a 2024 F57, JCW with iconic trim. The manual (written in 2022, amazingly) says nothing about adjusting the HUD, except you can move the MPH numbers slightly left-right, which is useless. I would LOVE to have a few other things there (or even make the numbers larger) but alas my stalk's top button only changes what's displayed on the bottom area of the main digital display.

What other options does your give?
