Computer

Since the 05's came with the button on the turn signal stalk for the OBC, is there a way to activate the functions if you did not have this option ordered from Mini? I know there is a retro fit for the earlier Mini's on the Mini2 list, but I haven't seen anything on the 05's.

Another member asked me the same question... He finally got a MINI dealer to flash his eCU with the OBC option and it worked!

I sent him the wires to connect for the MINI without that stock button, but he didn't run any wire...

Very simple, once his dealer knew how to activate the OBC feature!

How would you switch to the different information without a button? Wouldn't you need to wire up a button somehow?

On my 03 MCS, I had to run a wire to the rear of the speedometer and power it with some 12v source... but on 04-05 MINI, the button is already there!

Newer MINI have a button on the turn signal stalk... It switches from outside temp and actual speed...

Yes, I knew about the button. Unfortunately mine doesn't have the button, but I would like to be able to switch from temp to mph, etc... How far are you from Indiana? Would you be willing to take a small road trip to help me get this done?

LOL I'm really far from Indiana.... I live in Quebec, Canada.

But PM me your email adress and I'll help you with the custom On-Board Computer retrofit! It's really easy to get a custom switch for the OBC.

And this option will save you many $$ vs MINI OBC retrofit kit! (cost me 30$can vs 360$can for the MINI kit, not installed)
