Has anyone found a aftermarket intake filter ? I want a k&n but can't find it or is not available

I emailed K&N about a filter for the F56 they replied that they have one under development and it will be ready towards the end of the year. Hope you can wait that long !

 

Honestly, I wouldn't spend money on one for the F56. I don't believe you will see a performance increase and the oil used on them messes with the MAF. I'll wait for the JCW tune kit

 

The MAF-oiling issue is nothing to worry about. I've run an oiled gauze filter on our 4Runner for almost five years. Just pull the MAF sensor and clean with some aerosol MAF sensor cleaner (NOT throttle body cleaner!) with every oil change. Zero issues.

 

That is very true and only a minor inconvenience.

Out of curiosity, I went onto their site. The element is about $90 USD and shipping (to TX, anyhow), would have been another $65 USD. I could not find any dealers stocking in the US. Would come from Italy. So, we are looking at a $150+ replacement filter. Yikes!

 

After having to clean or replace idle air control valves in 2 of my Hondas with K&Ns, I have to agree that the oil gets in there and gums things up. Ok, even if you take the time to spray off the MAF... the oil is getting places you can't find. I think I've given up on K&N. Fingers crossed for a JCW kit! =)

 

There's no IACV on the Mini throttle body. Or at least this Mini throttle body. It's drive-by-wire; no moving parts or air channels aside from the actual throttle blade. There are MAP and MAF sensors but no IACV to gum up. Obviously, it's up tp folks to decide what they want to do with their own cars but an oiled element is nothing to wory about on this platform as long as you clean the MAF sensor routinely.
