Clutch action question, new owner

Guys, I just bought a new 2022 JCW two-door hardtop, manual transmission. I picked it up tonight. I noticed that the clutch starts to work in the first quarter inch of me lifting my foot. I've never seen a clutch that activates so close to the floor. Is this normal or is there something a little off? I've driven a lot of stick shift cars including the one I just trade it in and there has always been a certain amount of travel before the clutch starts to engage. Doesn't seem quite right to me, but the sales guy said it was normal.

thanks in advance

Not normal. Mine is slightly more than an inch off the floor when engagement starts.

Cheers,

Charlie

Charlie, I don't see any signature on your post.

update: I checked your profile. I do see that you have a JCW 2018

second update: apparently signatures only show up when using the desktop browser. The mobile website that is the default for mobile browsers does not show signatures.

My 2017's clutch was very strange when it was brand new, it engaged very close to the floor and was super light after the first few inches. It was a rough drive for a few weeks, and then it totally evened out.

New clutch, as it wears little, the engagement rises.
