You need the automatic transmission for that.

Haven't they just eliminated the pops/bangs with the new models now, regardless of transmission?

I was actually abut to search the forum for this exact topic. Is there an aftermarket exhaust that will bring the pops back?

Mine pops when it upshifts when I accelerate briskly. I have the 305 hp 2020 JCW Clubman. It has a second exhaust port that opens when I'm in the Sport mode.

I could be wrong as I live in the UK but over here I believe it had something to do with them having to put in the GPF (gas particulate filter)in the exhaust system. I have a 2020 Clubman S and it’s the same.

Could be. My car's a totally different engine/transmission and exhaust than the JCW hatchback and Clubman S cars.

Yes I think you are correct so the question is can removing that part bring back the burble is is a tune also needed? I also heard that Mini's here in Canada lose the burble as well.

I believe it would certainly help. I did see a video bit so long ago on YouTube of a BMW 1 series I think, that was getting the GPF removed and it did make a difference. The filter also makes changing the exhaust an issue as all I have seen so far is exhausts systems for after the GPF and this means cutting and joining in a new system. Of course it could be different where you are and of course I am talking about a Clubman but would expect it to similar on the other cars.

Do the US-spec cars have the new particulate filter as well? Will the JCW tuning kit bring the popcorn noises back?

According to the MINI USA website the tuning kit is not available for the newest cars. I wonder if it actually fits or if the addition of the particulate filter is behind the cat.

Is it possible that the website is just out of date? ShopMINIUSA doesn't show any accessories as fitting 2022 models, not even stuff like mirror caps.

EDIT: Confirmed through the official MINI account on Twitter that US-spec cars are still GPF-free.

"The EU particulate filter is not needed for US regulations and therefore not included on US cars. There is an accessory JCW Exhaust, however, the JCW Tuning Kit has not been able to be fitted to MINIs since model year 2020 due to technical updates to the drivetrain."

This is the JCW exhaust that's currently available for the '20 and up cars: https://www.shopminiusa.com/PRODUCT/...ILENCER-SYSTEM

Hi Everyone, hope your all well. So look up my posts, I have a ‘21 F56 JCW 6sp Manual and installed the JCW Pro Exhaust with zero issues and I get all the Pops/Burbling. It’s a little tricky because I believe that BMW/Mini is not pushing this as they are trying to clean up their act on the EPA but here in the US we don’t have GPF’s in our vehicles. The install was straight forward and everything lines up perfectly. Only issue was you couldn’t do the JCW Tune which really wasn’t an issue for me. Car pulls strong and with zero issues!! Enjoy, Jose

Thanks JPSJR1970, souch good information

Update: Sport mode, warm motor, neutral, goose throttle and revs drop fast, there is great pop/burble. The issues is driving there is rev hang preventing the pop burble.

Accelerate, high revs, push in clutch, release throttle, the revs stay high, only gradually come down, so no pop/burble.

Sent mail to MINIUSA asking for an upgraded JCW pro exhaust as it was stated here that fixed the problem for one person

I decided not to pursue the exhaust with the dealer. I decided I like how the S sounds when I listen closely. Also, considering if I want to upgrade to JCW tune and exhaust later (sold only as a pair, and there is no tune yet for 2020 yet), I would have an extra exhaust.

My conversation with MINI USA made it sound like there will be no JCW tune for the '20 and up cars. I'd do the exhaust and then piggyback Dinan on top of it, since Dinan warranties their products. If warranty isn't a concern there is a wider selection.

(I want to keep my warranty so I'll most likely be going Dinan.)

Dinan will void the warranty I was told. It was sold/supported for early F56, but stopped (I don't know the year maybe 2017?). It was sold through MINI, but there were issues so the deal was ended. There is no warranted tune for 2020 forward.

FWIW, I have a 2019 S w/ the JCW exhaust. It will pop and burble a bit, but really comes alive when I put the car in "Sport" even with the exhaust flap closed..

I have the JCW pro exhaust on my 2022 JCW. Barely pops at all.

Tuning is different between 2019 and 2021. They changed tuning and even switched the JCW from the B48 to the B46.
