Just bought a ‘17 w/ LED headlights - I leave the light switch on auto, but don’t see the ring around the lights when it’s in park. Do the rings only light up when I’m driving, or did the daytime running light “ring” first appear on ‘18 models?

I searched in FAQ for 5 mins but lost patience
Maybe the running rings are off turned off in settings. I know I was able to turn off my DRL in BMW and Audi I’ve had. I never did. Always looked better with them on. My rings are always on. They dim a little when the headlights turn on.

Thanks - went into settings on the center console, and the DRL box is checked. Do you keep the light switch on auto?
Thx - son just got his license - needed a relatively inexpensive backup - this fits the bill - bonus is manual trans which there aren’t many around nowadays
Mazda has theirs turn off when the parking brake is engaged or the shifter is in "park".
Same with my Wrangler.
And, yep, there are people who complain in those forums, that they put their Jeep into park, set the parking brake, get out, walk around up front, and find their DRL's are off. They are BROKEN, they then post.

Double congrats on the manual transmission!
You are teaching him the joys of manual transmission?

Thanks, and yes - imo, everyone should learn how to drive a manual - if ever a situation arises in the future where there’s no choice (rare nowadays I know) I don’t want him being stuck. I definitely prefer them, but I don’t have stop and go traffic.
