Chesterfield Leather Vs. Mini Yours Lounge Leather

Hello all. I am in need of help from owners who have owned the Chesterfield Leather in their cars. I am looking to buy a 2020 with Iconic Trim off the lot. There are only 2 available that meet my criteria. The one that has the Chesterfield Satellite Grey Leather seats has everything I wanted except for the Lounge Leather seats. The other car is missing many things that would be too costly to add but it has the Lounge Leather seats in black that I wanted. I currently own a 2007 R56 with the Lounge Leather seats so I know I love them. The new ones are even nicer. Yesterday I test drove the car with the Chesterfield leather. It is not as nice, soft, or comfortable. With that said, I love the car, the way it looks and they are offering me a great price. So I am wondering am I overreacting about the difference in the seats. Do people own the Chesterfield seats and love them? Will they break-in over time and not feel as firm to sit on? Anyone love their Chesterfield seats and think I am crazy? I can get over the difference in softness, I just want to be comfortable when driving. I am also concerned about the very light color getting dirty over time. Thanks!

I had mini lounge leather (redwood) in my R56....now have f56 Chesterfield orange brown and even like them better. They look like Bentley seats. Texture is maybe nots as nice but they look nicer IMHO. Very comfortable too.

I had redwood lounge leather on my r56.....loved them. Now have the Chersterfield brown in my F56 and like them even more....have the pull out leg support, very comfortable and look like Bentley seats with Diamond pattern. The leather quality is a little different but I like them probably more.

Those seats are sooo nice

The gray is more of a white and after a while if you dont treat them with scotch guard they do rub off the bluejean dye and you have to clean them, I have the same in my range rover also. Just have to clean and treat all the time.

The brown does not show as much and is kind of a classy color. Good luck on the choice, booth cool seats.

I had Satellite Gray Lounge in my 2017 Clubman and now have Chesterfield Gray in my 2020. I liked the Lounge Gray a lot and like the Chesterfield pattern even better.
A major difference between the light color and the Brown, besides the fact that the Gray does indeed show more grime, is the lower dash and door panel color. I like all the light color accents on the door panels, center tunnel, and lower dash. Brightens things up quite a bit. I almost went Brown, as it is a classy look too, but didn't feel it went that well with all the black, whereas the Gray is, IMHO, a nicer contrast. All good.

Sounds like everyone is happy with their Chesterfield leather! They are sharp looking. Does anyone who owned the Lounge Leather and now the Chesterfield feel like they are not as comfortable? Did they "break-in" over time?

The Chesterfield seems a bit better cushioned and is less sticky when it gets hot because the cross stitching creates more bolsters and pockets, in my experience.
The Lounge Leather was not as well padded in our 2017 Clubman when compared to our 2020 Chesterfield.
Overall, thus far, I would say the Chesterfield is an improvement. However, we're less than a year and only a couple thousand miles in, so it's too soon to know long-term regarding wear. Did not need any "break-in" period.

FWIW, after 3 years of seat time, when we turned our 2017 with Lounge in at lease end, the seats were almost as new... after a Lexol leather treatment cleaning.

Final thought: The leather quality is not like the fine, buttery Connolly hides in British cars from days of yore. The stuff MINI uses is sort of a synthesized/amalgamated leather product. It's good, but not top tier. I like the look.

my 2017 cooper had the Satellite Gray leather with the striped pattern. My 2020 has the Satellite Gray diamond pattern, I have to say my 2017 didn't hold up every well. Definitely like the 2020 pattern better.
