Squeal sound 1st and 2nd gear

Hi all, my car 2016 f56 jcw start to have this squealing sound when i'm on 1st and 2nd gear, and it doesn't start right away from when i step on my paddle. maybe a 1 second delay? and it stop when it pass around 30km/h or when I go 3rd gear. It also go away when my clutch is pressed down. It happens from time to time, sometime it happens all day, and next day I want it to happen to record it, it disappear. And the sound is hard to hear, unless u are driving next to a "wall" or cars then it is noticeable.

I'm at around 36000km, The only mod that can be relate to this would be JB4, K&N intake, Cavenspeed shortshifter, yellowstaff break pads? but have the same setup for almost half a year and no issue. So i doubt its any of those mods.

This clip is not from my car, but it sound the same, but not as loud.

Appreciate for any help! Cheers!

Right, something might be stuck on your rotor.

I had a noise exactly like in the video you posted. It was hard to recreate when I wanted to, but seemed to usually happen after driving highway speeds for ~2 hours and then downshifting for an exit. Of course, never at a time or location convenient to take it to the dealer. I literally had the noise stop while pulling into the dealer lot. Anyway, long story short is it turned out to be my transmission and was replaced under warranty.

Next time it's squealing, do these three things:
1) Stop driving and see if the squeal is there in neutral while stopped
2) Shift into reverse and see if it goes away.
3) Shift back into first and see if it comes back.

After numerous visits to the dealer, I finally got in while it was squealing. Shop foreman had me do the above - my answer to all was yes - and confirmed it was a transmission replacement.

Try to get as much footage of the noise as you can and start bugging your dealer about it while the car still has warranty (if it does).

Yeah I was chasing this problem for close to three years. Information on the forums on this issue is sparse.

The funny thing is there was nothing that would indicate a transmission problem. It worked fine. It was just that occasional squeal, which was extremely loud.

It’s been close to a year since it was replaced and I’ve had no issue since.

Edit: I’ve got videos but can’t seem to post them here from my phone
