3rd gear to 2nd gear jerk
3rd gear to 2nd gear jerk
I started to experience jerking when breaking. Let say when I am at 30 mph and coming up to a stop sign or red light, break normally (not panic stop), when the car slow to about 10 or 5 mph, it will jerk once and than stop to a complete stop.
I have automatic but I am sure it's not the downshifting "jerk" and there is no ABS or any light on the dashboard when this happen.
need help quick im driving 120 miles in the morning and im pretty scared :[
Any thoughts?
i have a 2007 mini cooper non s
Thanks

Have no clue about this so hopefully someone will correct me if i'm wrong. This might help you isolate the issue.
Maybe try braking with only the e brake handle. If the car still jumps then the problem should be the with the transmission. If the car does not jump the the problem should be with the front brakes.
Again not sure if that will help find out whats wrong or not just a thought.

I read up some other similar posts and they were saying something about changing their rotors but I don't understand what that has to do with the car doing a hard jerk when it hits 2nd gear
I'm thinking it's a transmission issue. I think the brake rotors suggestion was about the discs being warped maybe?

The problem was with the valve body which is in the transmission gasket so instead of replacing the entire transmission I had a friend rebuild and fix the valve body which cost me around $750 now the car runs perfect better then it has ever run, very smooth!
