My text was deleted and I can't add it back to the original post... I started to say my car has killed 3 birds since I bought it in July. The first while test driving, two pigeons on the road, one flies away and the other disappears. When we get back to the dealer I notice feathers in the brake cooling intake under the bumper. I reach in and pull out the pigeon who just flies away. The next two weren't so lucky. I found a dead one in there while washing my car and just today once again I see a bird on the road and it disappears. I get home and sure enough there he is in the intake, unfortunately not alive either. Any one else have this "problem"? LOL

Yup, back about 47 years ago in my then '63 E type I caught a robin on the windshield. It splattered like a bug. It happened on a track doing in excess of 100. Across Western KS some years later, a pheasant. Wasn't going that fast then.

Nailed a buzzard that was a little slow getting up off some road kill. Hit right between the push bars on the front of my Suburban and broke a driving light. I gotta tell you, that was one pissed off bird when he picked himself up and flew away. Just glad I wasn’t driving the R56 I had at the time.

Had to drop in to see what excitement Vet could include when a bird related incident came to mind. Not car related but on the golf course, a playing partner hit his drive off the tee box just as a bird flew out of a bush. The ball and bird came together. The bird lost hugely. About all we found were a few bits and lots of feathers.

Picked up a bird moving from Florida back to Albuquerque, somewhere around Amarillo. I thought I'd have to dig out its corpse from behind the bumper, but I couldn't find anything back there.

IMO the funniest movie of all time had a brief discussion of birds. (I am veering off topic, but it's funny)

btw - I've hit a Raccoon, never a bird. Home windows do take a fair share of bird killings.

If Mel was really on his toes, when Mostel and Wilder turned around to go inside their backs should have been covered with white splotches. Now THAT would have been funny.

Looks like a MINI has engineered an efficient bird vacuum. I'll bet they weren't even trying
I've hit birds twice - a buzzard took off and hit my windshield square in the center but no damage; I didn't spot it in the mirrors (agreed: they have low climb out rate).
And a dove I'm guessing didn't actually touch the windshield just the slipstream. There was a nice big puff of feathers though.

Agree on the movie. Brook's funniest ever IMO (although Young Frankenstein is a near tie).

Is there a way to make this thread invisible to me? I love birds even more than I love MINIs, and this thread title depresses me every time I check this folder.

Used to be a time when you fell off your bike you got up and kept going. Scabs were like battle ribbons, each one told a tale. Now if one shows up everybody else is supposed to make it go away. I've been on this forum for quite a while and didn't remember seeing a thread titled safe space.

Yeah. I get it. If people read this thread and become more aware that our f56s are bird killing machines, and that saves the life of one bird, then it’s worth it. I just got sick of looking at the title. Thanks for your feedback.

Another side of the story would require equal time for possum, skunk, armadillo and raccoon fanciers along with deer aficionados.
BTW, I've also got a deer to my credit except the deer hit me amidships.

Absolutely. Alas, I also have inadvertent road kills to my credit. I appreciate your taking the time to respond.
