F56 JCW Steering Wheel Wire

Hello everyone,

so I bought a JCW steering wheel off eBay and when I received it, I realized that part of the grey/red wire was burnt off. Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase the individual wire or do I have to replace the whole wiring harness for it.

honestly, cut the wire and use a butt splice to join them again. i cannot imagine being able to purchase the wire alone. nor would it be necessary. the butt splice would be MORE than enough to resolve it.

I agree with MarcoPolo - just repair it.

Here's some pics and info that may help ...
This pc shows R&R and correct(?) routing of the wire -

I'm thinking it's the horn wire, see these 2:

and
S87*1B (S87*2B is the horn's ground)

I wonder how it got burnt in the first place? Is there a way to see if the wheel even works before you start installing it?

@MarcoPolo @FlyByMike thanks guys for your help! I went ahead and did the butt splice and installed today! @Mini_Vinnie I was honestly wondering the same, but I installed today and everything worked perfectly, so I'm happy!

I had the normal steering wheel, but mine does have the control on the sides as can be seen in the picture. I am guessing that adding the JCW is totally doable, but you might have to code both the paddles and the other buttons.
