New F56 - Missing Driver-side Sun Visor and Secret Compartment
I just took delivery of my new F56 Justa - my third Mini after a 2006 R50 and a 2015 F56 One.
The One had a secret compartment above the glove box that the 2017 Cooper doesn't have. I can live without it, I guess.
But the 2017 doesn't have the greatest feature that I've ever had in a car - and was in the R50 and 2015 - a sun visor over the driver-side window. There are two plug-like things there though so I was wondering if it's possible to buy one and install it myself.
Thanks in advance.

There is a 5 page thread about this. I was succesfull adding one, at a cost of $176.00 self install.
The oh **** handle CAN be replaced with a visor, buy a drivers side, and it will fit. They are $90!!

You won’t miss the visor. It’s to small to do anything

You mentioned you had a Mini One, are you in europe?
They eliminated the drivers side window visor in the last year or so. It is a nice feature, not sure why they canned it.
Secret compartment is so small that it isn't a lot of use for me. However I forgot about it and spent a week looking around the garage for something hidden in the compartment. Duh moment!

Sorry to disagree - that visor was the best feature I've ever had in ANY car!
I imagine the reason why these features were cancelled was to help offset some of the materials cost of making MINI Connected standard on every car. The Excitement package with the driving modes and extra lighting were also casualties as well...
In just makes them look cheap. Not a good thing when you are trying to sell a premium product.
I’m sure that’s true, but I am unsympathetic to them. They’ve known for over a decade they would be required to have a backup camera display in the dash. And every other car on the market in the US has the exact same requirement. They’ve had plenty of time to anticipate this cost change.

Thanks.
Ok, I'm in Israel and bought a car already on the dealer's lot (no special order options) - I have the Excitement Package, driving modes, and "disco" lighting but no Mini Connected. I guess what is standard in the US is obviously not standard in other parts of the world.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Go back to the dealer, and tell them you want it.
They all should, but they did drop it for a while. Just like the secret compartment.
If you look at 360 interior view on the UK website you will notice that it isn't in the car anymore.

I think you're mistaken. I did ask about it and was told that's how the car came into the country.
I just discovered that the new car also does NOT have:
You've got to be kidding me! In a car with practically no storage space, they save money on things so easy - and cheap - to have!
I am VERY disappointed.
- The storage pouches built in to the backs of the front seats.
- The mesh storage nets attached to the underside of the fake boot floor.

Time for you to switch back to an R50.
