Paddle shifters retrofit quick question...

Hi motorers!

I want to retrofit paddle shifters to my F60 Countryman (I know I should post this in F60 section but this one gets more people/possible answers)

I got a JCW wheel from eBay but it has different cruise control layout... (see pics below)

If I swap my OEM cruise control buttons/whole assembly, will it work?

Or would it work out of the box with just a swap of steering wheel and get used to new buttons layout?

I’d rather just swap the steering wheels and move on to recoding with eSys... But I don’t want to run in any trouble...

The buttons pop out so easily, why wouldn't you just swap them?

JCW wheel

Funny I also just bought and installed a JWC wheel for my 17 F56. Everything was plug and palay and seems to work as normal except for the paddle shifters. Called my local dealer to see if they could apply a simple recode, waiting to hear back. I will also put a call out to miniusa, keep you posted.

So basically, the wiring is the same, only the layout is different...?

You’ll need to have it coded (dealer or eSys) in order to get the sport transmission and paddles working

Or you could get a cable and get it remotely coded:

Is the back of the JCW steering wheel different from the S wheel? I'm wondering if the paddles can be installed on an S steering wheel. I already have the sport transmission just no paddles so I'm guessing they will just work with no coding.

I was looking at that option as well but you can get a JCW steering wheel with paddles on eBay for roughly the same price as paddles only.

Not sure if paddles will be activated from factory if you have sport transmission. Worst case, it can be coded!

Makes sense. The paddles alone are far from cheap.

And you’d have to fit them to the existing steering wheel, which looks a bit involving on BMW forums...

Getting a JCW steering with paddles ensures everything will fit!

I got aa steering from Poland on eBay, and although cruise contrl buttons were not the same layout, it fits plug and play. Dealer told me coding was not possible so I got a cable off eBay and got it remote coded for around (cable and prog) $120. (My local dealer
charges the dsme for one hour...)
