License Plate Holder

Closed the hatch on my '14 MCS, and the clip holding the right side of the plate holder came out which allowed the right side to hang down. Looks like I'll have to push in on the plate whenever I close the hatch.

The other side seems secure for now -- sure would hate to lose my license plate after hitting some bump in the road.

Get a new license plate frame maybe? If you still have the plastic one that the dealer included, I'd suggest metal. They are like 20 bucks.

It's the MINI part that attaches to the hatch that has came loose. The frame on the plate does not attach to the car.

It's held on my two machine screws under your license plate. Sounds like you need to probably replace one if it fell out.

My plate comes loose after a few months. I wish that holder used more than just 2 in-line bolts, because when it gets even slightly loose it lets it rock back and forth and make noise when you hit bumps. Probably should use some Loc-Tight on the bolts.

My plate holder is attached to the hatch by 2 white plastic pieces that plug into square holes in the hatch. The right one pops out unless I gently close the hatch. If the left one were to also pop out easily, the whole license plate assembly could fall off the car on a rough road.

I'm only posting this to warn others.

Thanks for the heads up. That's the culprit? When the screws are tight that should expand and lock to the metal on the car. 51127020321

Yep, that's the culprit. Will take of it tomorrow. Looks like I'll need to remove the plate to get to that plate holder screw. Thanks!

Warranty issue? Does your moving plate scuff the paint?
