Rear View Mirror - moves a lot?
Does anyone with the base (no auto-dimming but does have rain sensor) rear view mirror notice it's very easy to move? I feel like it might move when I go over bumps. I adjust it everyday it seems. It's not loosely installed, it's almost like the ball and socket adjuster part is too loose or lubed up or whatever.

You have a 2016 as well. Bad batch of mirrors maybe. I guess we just wait to see if it gets worse. I hate the idea of them replacing it and messing something up in the headliner.

Thanks for the reply! Not good that there is an official "issue", but good that I'm not crazy, lol.

The mirror detaches easily without affecting the headliner. Seriously, I wouldn't accept a manufacturing defect that's completely covered under warranty. How much did this "premium" car cost? Remember that every time you see the mirror shake.

There's no "official issue" and no "manufacturing defect". Automotive components are subject to extremes of temperatures and conditions affect performance of parts. Needing to readjust a mirror is hardly an "issue" or "defect". I can remember having to glue rearview mirrors back onto windshields of cars I owned before my four MINIs and that wasn't a defect or issue either.

My 2014 MCS had the mirror replaced twice. A retaining ring kept popping loose after awhile from moving the mirror to put up the sunshade. I finally modified the sunshade so the mirror doesn't have to be moved. Even with the new mirror I still adjust it once daily...especially from hot days.
There is no adjustment (set) screw on mine, just a plastic retaining ring that applies pressure to a cup/ball arrangement.

Noticed the F56+ models are very tight.

I've hadn't had to use that switch yet, but I imagine it would just be frustrating. I dread the dealer....I heard the rain sensors in these things were leaking fluid for a bit. Mine is sealed tight and dry, so if they take that off to replace the mirror, I'm probably just trading one defect for another.

I'm the only driver so I'd notice if I had to adjust it often and I don't. I've got a 2016 JCW pretty loaded but w/o the Home Link option. If you have the mirror with the garage door button that's probably going to cause frequent re-adjustment as you push the button and as a consequence move the mirror. I've learned on my Outback (with Home link) it helps to put fingers behind the mirror and hold it steady while pushing button with my thumb.
That said, if you don't have the Home link feature then this isn't the cause of your problem.
