What is "propitiatory"? Did they mean to say proprietary?

Manic F56 Tune

I looked at the web link. Reminds me of VW tunes with ECU flash. Similar pricing and gains.

Question. -- what are benefits over something like BT? Costs more, and involves finding a dealer or sending away ECU, plus worry about overwrite at dealer. When I had a VW ECU tune, my seas let overwrote it once and it was a pain to get back.

I would consider it if there are benefits.

Benefit is alot more bhp. Stage 2 is estimated 260+ whp and its a full tune not just raised boost.

Well, one benefit of the BT over the Manic is that the BT cannot be detected by the dealer because it can be easily removed when you visit the dealer. For that reason alone I would not even consider the Manic. Unless, of course, you don't value your warranty.

I come from a VW tune background where they were typically ECU flashes so I am used to the risk. I like BT et al because I don't have to find a shop to flash the ECU.

Hey don't get me wrong, I love the Burger. It's on my car now but I would love another 40-50bhp too. Also the Manic is not detectable either but if you ever have to get reprogrammed you also have to get tunned again.

With flash tunes the DME is aware of the true load and boost values, which are stored in protected memory along with maximum RPM and vehicle speed, so flash tunes are always detectable. Not that it matters much as the engines are pretty reliable.
