How can you tell whether your F55 is built in Oxford, England or Born, Netherlands? What is the VIN code for these facilities? I was told the F55 were being built in Oxford but heard Mini could be moving some F55 production to Born where their contract manufacturer VDL builds some F56s.

T to start the last 7 digits is Oxford.
2 is also Oxford.
3 is Born.

 

Read hammerhands post to see the breakdown on where your MINI is made. SOME Cooper models are made in Born, all Cooper S models are made in Oxford though.

 

FYI - My 2016 Cooper S was not built in Oxford. It was born in Born

How interesting! Didn't know they were doing S's in Born now.

 

I was surprised myself. Threw me for a loop as I was tracking progress and trying to figure out which ship he landed on lol. Makes a big difference if the car is getting picked up in Belgium vs. Oxford when comparing shipping scheduled lol. No one at my dealer was aware they were building them there either.

 

When my F56 was in production, I phoned that "wonderful" ASK MINI number to get the straight story. The gal who answered said that my MINI was still in Munich.

I believe my F56 was built in Born, checked shipping status today via WW, was thinking it would get on the boat in South Hampton on 10/22....but the status says it was loaded in Zeebrugge on the Bess
