BMS stage 1 + Exhaust Mod?

Been off the forums for a while cause of work, but I am strongly considering doing what I heard some talk about months back: a BMS "Tuner" and a "straight piped" exhaust that basically goes from the cat, or maybe even the manifold, back.

Has anyone done a mod like that/can anyone give some feedback? I remember seeing some really impressive dyno numbers, but I am looking for road feeadback, and especially any related issues/gremlins. Does freeing the exhaust back-pressure that much in order to get some of that lost power cause the engine to throw you random engine codes/02 sensor problems? Anything else kind of like that maybe?

Thank in advance!

i cut out my exhaust and put dual-4" pipes. as for sound, i love it. it's got a throaty sound and after a couple thousand miles on it, it sounds great. it only gets louder when on WOT, and in sport mode, it pops like crazy, which is always fun.

no error codes. the de-exhausting ONLY affected the sound of the car...nothing as it relates to engine codes.

Apparently we can tweak it..
I'll be emailing Terry tomorrow to get facts from him.

Just wonder what the recommended +- would be based on the octane. In FL we have up to 93 on most. Perhaps at least +4 would be the most.

Mind educating us on the process?

There are some new, high-quality exhaust options coming down the pike. If you're looking to do an exhaust, do it primarily for sound--if you get any power from a cat-back, that's a bonus. The tuner, of course will make good power gains.

I am running BMS + muffler delete. No issues and exhaust sounds great. Fairly loud at full throttle barely noticeable at idle.

BMS stage 1+

You can change the amount of boost if the ff connector is added to allow more fuel and higher octane is ran I run 93 octane and plus 5 psi similar to craigsix there are plenty of pops and burbles 😜

Do you have screenshots of this setup on the software?

Just placed my order of the Data Cable after speaking to Terry and wanted a basic understanding of how to tweak things within the software.

After I installed the FF connector and upgraded the firmware I used these settings running 93octane

Boost Safety +5psi
Fuel Open Loop 50

That's all that is needed some of the guys are running +7psi but without higher octane fuel that's as far as I go. The wife drives the car 99%of the time she says it is a world of difference over factory 🚗

Great, thanks!

Oh yeah, as soon as you plug that Stage 1 up it is already a world of difference. I'm sure 1-2 more will at least give you more of an edge. I wouldn't do more than that, though.. Wouldn't want the engine to go boom. 93 octane is as high as we've got.

I'm sorry, "installed the FF connector and updated the firmware" sounds like gibberish to me. I know what firmware is, but how do you upstate it on the BMS? What is a FF connector? Where do you change those settings at?

^^^ You will find the software install link on the 1st post.

FF connector = http://www.burgertuning.com/USB_Cable_Extension.html

Settings will be found on the software after it is installed.

I don't have details yet, as I don't have the cable.. But, I will create a how-to and post it when I'm able to do everything next week (when the cable arrives and work permits)

EDIT: Correct this post if I'm wrong or if I've given wrong information.
