Any chance of getting something off the price?

This will be MINI number 4 for our family, but the first not ordered from the configurator.

We went to the dealer today just to "look"
My husband really likes the new 4 door hardtop S. After test driving and looking around he narrowed down what he would like. They did a search and found pretty much exactly what he wants(missing a few small non essential things) that is out there in inventory. About 3 weeks from delivery. So seeing as this car isn't a custom order and is out there for the taking do we have any chance of a better deal than suggested retail from the print out?
Would love any suggestions or insight on how these things go. I've negotiated with dealers before but usually on a car that's been sitting on the lot for a bit.

Not sure what "out there in inventory" refers to. If it's one your dealer ordered to sell from their stock you could probably get some money off, maybe $1000 or so. It it's one that the dealer could "hijack" from another dealer's orders that's en route maybe not. For those you have to put a downpayment or it's anybody's ballgame who gets that car. The Tempe dealer found me an F56 last year and I went there to put the money down and the car had been hijacked by somebody else (it was destined for some SoCal dealer).

Usually (in my experience anyway), the dealer will be less likely to give as big a discount on an ordered car as they would on an in stock car, but that doesn't mean they won't discount it at all. I ordered both my MINIs and got discounts on both. Mileage may vary, but there are MINI promotions to consider and if you are trading in, you can usually negotiate a higher trade in if they aren't offering much off the new car.

Of course, it depends on the dealer and the demand for the car you're looking at and you also have to consider MINIs usually do not enjoy as high a discount off the MSRP as some other car manufacturers enjoy.

This is a car that I think they are hijacking from another dealer's inventory.
Now that I think about it, I did get $1000 off on my 2011 that I ordered. Guess that means they do have a little wiggle room.

I ordered a custom F56 base model with a bunch of upgrades at $29k MSRP. They gave me $750 off from the spring sale event, then I negotiated a further $1150 off, all pre-tax.

Still waiting on it to enter production...

We missed the spring sales thing due to my husband being unable to drive for 2 weeks. I think he will just be calling them and telling them he will give them the deposit if they can knock $1500 off the price.
If they can't, then no big deal, we can walk. We don't need the car right away, just trying to get something before daughter leaves for college in the fall. The plan is for her to take his '11 Countryman, but we can always just buy her a used something or other.

Trade the Countryman in on a 2015 F56 JCW. One with a red top. He'll love it. Then buy the kid a 1973 VW Bug.

Kid would love a 73 VW, but not a bug, she wants one of the vans. She is currently driving my 2001 PT Cruiser which has been a great car, super reliable, only been in the shop for basic maintenance. It will be 14 years old next week so he is just nervous that it is about to run out of luck. He wants to send her to school in something newer, with a better safety rating. We don't want to get her a brand new car, but buying used makes us nervous. We know how we take care of cars but can't feel that same confidence in someone else's used car. This way, she is getting the used vehicle but we know the history.

If you go into the dealer today last I checked the weekend sales event is still active...1000.00 rebate on any S model, once they secure the certficate its good till the end of June but today is the last day they can do that. There is not a ton of room from dealer cost to sticker on the Hardtops unless Mini has dealer side incentives. If you want to drive to Nashville for pickup I could do all if this for you if not go to your local dealer but I can do it over the phone. We get lots of folks from Georgia and Alabama

I just ordered a new Cooper S Hardtop 4 door a few days ago. I went in with the Kelly Blue Book values for the car with all the options I wanted. They sold it to me for the 'Fair Purchase Price' (approx $1,000 off MSRP) minus another $1,000 from MINI Corporate for the sales event.

Yes. Then after the 'price' is set I must render unto the state Caesar the things that are his, then render unto the county Caesar the things that are his, then the DMV gets a cut...

Check Truecar.com. Maybe they are a Truecar certified dealer and will match the truecar price.

That's what i did and they beat the truecar price by over a grand.

I'll actually be at Valencia Mini Saturday morning for a rally if you'd like me to ask.

Thanks for the offer "TheUPSman", i already placed custom build order today for F55. My build gave me a MSRP of 32,600 and dealer offered that as out the door price ... It was a pretty good deal and i took it. So the deal is done ...

Now the waiting beings ....

I just successfully placed an order for a 2-door Cooper S Hardtop for $300 over invoice. And honestly I had no trouble getting it (every dealer I talked to ended up being willing to deal at this price). So anyone out there wondering what kind of deal you can get - you can get a good one.

I have found there is one highly effective way to getting a good deal: email. Seriously, email the sales manager or internet sales director at 3-5 dealerships in your area. Start with a site like TrueCar and find what dealers on the site are willing to sell at for the model you're looking for. Then start with a reasonable offer somewhat below that point and see if you have any takers (and you almost certainly will at or very close to this price). It's worked for me for the last 4 cars I've bought, and it saves a ton of time over visiting multiple dealers and haggling in person.

I am sure it varies by area and the promos going on. And on how optioned the car is. Most of you got very aggressive deals but in Cali there are a lot more Mini stores. Next closest store from here is 2-3 hour drive.
