Headlight Inside Housing Haze Fog

Hi all,

Only 1,700 km driven
Stored in garage.
Noticed that my Headlights Housing have a cloudy, foggy, haze to them when the light are on. This is on the inside of both housings. It is not condensation.
Anyone else experiencing the same ? What did you do about it ? I guess what I am driving at, to me this is a defect and should be replaced under warranty ? Any thoughts ? Thank You !

Cause: Injection Moulding Process
Material: Optical Polymer
Issue: Haze, measured as off-axis light scattering, is typically less than 1%
the optical polymers. Haze can vary with component thickness, impurities present and processing method.

it's normal. I think I've seen what you're talking about on almost every plastic headlight lens.

thanks for your comment and reply.
You could be right, but it doesn't look right.

For example, if you take the cheapest Japanese or Korean cars OR
take the most expensive high end cars, i.e. Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Acura etc., their lights do NOT have this haze.

So why would this standard by MINI be acceptable ?

I find it very odd for this to be a standard. It is bad quality assurance. I don't think the engineers would be proud of this flaw. I am not. It looks dirty to me. I can't even clean it.

I noticed the same on mine. The haze is on the actual round glass where the bulb is at. More noticeable in person than this photo. hmmmm

Thank You !!!

Any suggestions ?...... To me this is not acceptable quality and visual appearance. Like I have said, you can buy the cheapest to the most expensive car imported from anywhere in the world or domestic built cars, and I bet you will not see this issue with them.

Additional photo

The whitish haze is there sitting inside, on the clear plastic. It sits in a vertical fashion, wide white haze up and down the headlight housing lens. You can see it above the silver plastic insert.

Clarification......Not the bulb at all ? Not sue what has created this......when the light is projected outwards in a horizontal fashion, there are wide vertical lines going up and down the clear housing which you can touch and clean, but the haze is on the inside and can't be cleaned (if possible, which I don't think it can). It is from the injection moulding process for the headlight housing or the bulb housing or the bulb ?? It is almost like the was a material issue or a injection issue or both that created this. It is not normal by any stretch of the imagination.

OR....it could be the bulb or bulb housing creating this haze onto the inside of the headlight housing ?
That is a really good question. I dunno.
