Oil loss

My F56S just told me to add a quart of oil. have 22k miles. Oil was changed at 12k miles per the service interval. I have decided I don't like not being able to visually check the oil level.

By chance, do ever get a weird whistling sound when you start the car after a short stop?

I noticed when I was under my F56S developing my spin-on oil filter adapter that the oil pan is configured to have a dip stick. There is a boss for one there in the casting. It just needs to be drilled and the proper tube inserted. I've half a mind to try to develop a retrofit kit for a dipstick as my next product, as I too hate the "trust me" aspect of oil level determination.

I'm just the opposite. I hardly ever think to check my oil. I'd probably check it more from inside the car, and the fact that it "warns" you I think is cool. I was down almost 2 qts in my 2007 one time. It started burning some oil after about 4 years.

I assume that is true for the three-cylinder?

I don't know why we can't have both.

I like how convenient it is to be able to check it from inside the car ... but if you like doing your own oil changes, the absence of a dip stick makes it real hard to know you're not over-filling it without having to cross your fingers and run the engine to check.
