Ok is it me?

Ok I have another yet probably provoking discussion question... YIKES

Ive been looking on this form the last week during my ordering process and I have noticed a lot of threads about Major complaints on the F56. Is the F56 that problematic? Is the quality and workmanship of the F56 lacking? Granted that we have a warranty in all but dang.....

Whats is the 5 Yes, Ill limit to 5 for sake of the thread. What is the 5 major things going wrong with the F56? Is it the older Gen or all the Gen's? Or am I just looking in or at the wrong thing here?

I've had my 2015 MCS for almost 3 months (3,000 miles) and no problems yet.
(knock on wood)

You have to remember that people post their problems not their elation about their cars and so with all the vehicles sold you are bound to see all the complaints on these forums. You need to look at them and remember that.... and if for some reason there is a problem with your car then you can relate it to and gain insight from what someone else has posted. It has happened to me with every car I've purchased in the last 10 years ...I join the forums and start to see all the anguish (some horror stories) but that does not mean it will be me! I use the forum as a way to educate myself incase a specific problem occurs then maybe I already know what to expect and what action I need to take.
Enjoy your MINI!!!!

To the OP - anecdotal for sure, but I have had my 2014 MCS close to 10 months, with no issues except a leaky w/s washer nozzle, fixed by dealer.

I think there were a few software glitches with the 2014 but the 2015 seems good. Like americo11 said forums attract the owners who got bad cars, like poor GregoryK for example. Most cars are probably just fine.

The time honoured truth about avoiding the first year or two of a new model must be weighed against your impulses I'm afraid! Because I'm impatient and a Mini Service Centre is within walking distance I bit the bullet on the F56 last June and after 6000km I'm one of the elated when it comes to this car!
I've had 2 software updates (one for stalling) and a TPMS monitor replaced. Small hiccups really when compared to the driving pleasure, style and happy motoring miles. The 3 cylinder is a very special car indeed by the way - oodles of urban appropriate torque and a quality cabin.

And wanted to commend you on your photographic style - look forward to a Mini folder on your web page for us Mini-acs!

I've had mine for 10 months, leaky window washer, software upgrade, spare tire flange nut replaced for recall. No problems.

I loooove driving my car. It handles great, gets decent gas mileage even when I'm having fun, is comfortable, and I like everything about the interior.

But would I recommend someone buy one? no, sorry i would not.
so far in 5k miles with my '15:
-lower control arm bushings replaced
-upper steering column shaft replaced
-mystery noise in rear suspension that some people have had fixed but Mini tells me is normal

the car has not stranded me in any way, but my last 3 new cars (2010 Miata, 2011 WRX, 2012 Golf TDI) never had any issues like this.

I was also one of those affected by the EPA delay this past summer and my car does not have rev-matching from 3->2 like the '14s did.

Mini did give me some free accessories because of the delay and provided my wife with a loaner car. So points for them there.

But I am disappointed with the lack of resolution for the suspension noise. At this point I would not recommend a Mini or my local dealership, Mini of Pittsburgh, to someone.

Edit: the F56 still seems to be an improvement in quality over previous models, BUT I had hoped for more since BMW was involved so much more on this one.

Coming up on 1 year of ownership, haven't had any issues.

MINI's are notoriously quirky cars but nobody has had an F56 long enough to really say whether it will be plagued by any major issues like the past generations have had. So far the biggest issue I've seen on the F56 is the oil housing leak.

11 months with a 2014 MCS

No issues except for the software update and replaced AC filter.

FWIW, supposedly the update to bring this back is available - I haven't heard of anyone who has done it yet, but at least a couple forum members have appointments scheduled to update.

I felt the same as the OP and voiced it somewhere in the forum back sometime between July and October. Unfounded worry so far. 2015 MC 2700 miles and no problems yet. I've never enjoyed a car this much. I love it!
