Mini factory retooling?

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone had heard about production delays due to the mini factory retooling? I ordered my f56 S about a month ago and still have no production number. My sales person told me the factory is retooling and was not sure how long it would delay things.

Thanks for any insight!

Nick

Haven't experienced any unexpected delays. My order was placed late January, Build 2/26/15 and loaded on the Victory Leader Vessel 3/5/15. Mine is currently in transit to CA and should be stateside 3/27/15.

Did you dealership change your order status from a 3 - Standard Order to a 1-Priority Status/Sold. This will speed up the process if they haven't. Good Luck!

Interesting...I will have to check with my mini advisor again. At anyrate at least my car will show up when all the salt and sand is washed off the roads and it's not like I don't have a mini to drive in the mean time! :-)

Thanks,

Nick

Yeah I doublecheck on that one. I hate to bug convention and give the dealer the benefit of the doubt but maybe they were given bad Intel. I did hear from my dealer today when I was inquiring about the status of mine that car is that the commissioned in late February had already arrived at our West Coast VDC which really surprised me. Mine was ordered about a month ago and has arrived only and although not yet in my hands.

I talked with my mini advisor at the end of last week and he told me it was just the Oxford plant that was retooling and that is where my car will be built. I ordered a 2015 Mini Cooper S 3-door with the JCW aero kit.

Anyways he did not have a production number yet and said there was no way to really move my car up the priority list as the issue is with the factory retooling anyways.

I'm sure they are not jerking me around or anything...at least I wouldn't think so. This is the 4th mini I have bought from them and we just bought a 2015 Cooper 3-door for my wife two months ago.

Anyways, looks like I might be waiting a while...:-(

That sucks, hate to hear it... so have you not gotten your vehicle inquiry report yet either with your options and stuff? I got mine within an hour or so of placing my order and it was automatically assigned a production #. Have you got one without it yet or none at all.

Just curious and best of luck!

I read somewhere that they could not produce the JCW on the same line as the other models due to some technical reason. Maybe that problem they are fixing.

No vehicle inquiry report either. I didn't know such a thing existed to be honest! This is the second one I have built custom, the other two we drove off the lot.

Rajapruk that could make sense. I haven't seen any other S models with the JCW kit yet. Thanks

It would make sense for them to retool at some level on the main line once the Roadster and Coupe stop being built, and after the Convertible switches to the F57 platform. They just won't need some things, like four lug wheel wrenches, windshield and dash handlers for the R5X cars, etc. They will also have to do something to build the new Clubman F54 in volume. I suppose this could affect F56 builds. The old body line for the R5X cars will also need converting.

I just read in other posts that the JCW models started production last week and that some people who have placed orders for the JCW model have got production numbers with eta's of May.

I would assume that my f56 S with the JCW aero kit and interior package would be ready for assembly too? I still have no production number......:-/

A 500 Abarth is starting to seem pretty tempting........

Until you see the 2014 crash tests for it = fail. Watch as the A pillar folds nicely to the drivers head, while the head of the crash dummy slips nicely between the bag from the wheel and side curtain....

Not that one purchases a car for the purposes of ramming it into a wall but it's a cog in the wheel for when I look at a new car and MINI is the safest one on the road.....

DON'T BUY AN ABARTH!!!! Spare yourself, I've had two and both we're very promptly traded in for MINI's, they're impractical, uncomfortable, expensive and lose ridiculous amount of value the second you drive off the lot, they're also quite loud and get annoying very quickly and a couple times when I had to brake really quickly to avoid crashing I had lost control, I wasn't even braking that hard and was on a flat, smooth road.

Your dealer should have a production number at the time the order is placed. I received mine the same day I ordered.
