BMS F56 B38 Mini Cooper Dynosheet

I hope this will help a few forums member who is looking to enjoy the car even more.
This is the Dynosheet of my friend's B38 Mini Cooper 3 cylinder Turbo with the BMS Stage 1 installed. Very impressive. Drove the car few laps around the block before hand.

Tha's impressive for a relatively inexpensive, easy to install, "tune" that won't void your warranty. I'll bet the Justa with that is as fast as the R56 MCS.

I think it will arguably void your warranty if BMW discovers somehow you installed it and subsequently claims any failures or problems with the car are a result of installing the mod. That's just my legal take on it (not sure). Anyone ever look into the issue?

To my knowlege it's never come up. The device can be removed in a minute and leaves no evidence of ever having been there on the car's system.

That's what I figured. Voiding a warranty is more hypothetical than anything.

Just wanted to share my story for folks who are looking to get the tune

It was said previously by someone.... that if they were to read the ECU, they can tell if it has been messed with, which in this case has been flashed to a different map.

Now, there is a law that i forgot the name to, they have to PROVE the modification is indeed what have caused failures mechanically in order for them to void your warranty. Also that void does not mean they will void your interior trim pieces and whatever else that has no connection with the engine itself.

Also it depends on which dealership you are going to for service/warranty.
Some are easier to work with others. I have BAD experience with my local one where i bought mine from, so if i were do do anything i believe they would void my warranty instantly. I even called in Mini of North America 3 times, however they was not able to help me in any way, except suggesting me to visit other dealership for help.

I work at a dealership myself, and we do not operate business like this Mini Dealership does.

My bad. I thought this was the so-called Burger Tune. Evidently this is a true ECU altering tune. The Burger Tune is not visible as an ECU alteration, it is installed after the ECU output.

This is the Burger Motorsport tunes. I have it on my F10 528i, F15 X5 sDrive35i, and F56 Mini Cooper S.
My friend's F56 is the B38 motor Mini Cooper and I helped Terry to test the car and dyno'ed it using the same tune as the B48 Mini Cooper S. It worked great and Terry approved on the result.
The tune is not too mellow and not too aggressive, just right. A few of the MCS owner in this forum including me uses the BMS tune already and nothing but good feedback on it.
If you are worry about warranty so much, I would suggest you to keep the car 100% stock.
If you are looking to enjoy the car that you pay with your own hardwork, I would suggest to get the tune as it is priced decent enough where it won't break the bank.
Another thing, BMS is known in the Bimmer community since the E9x chassis, his products is known to be the best for the bucks.

What's up with the dyno plot? Why do the curves stop at different RPMs?

How does this affect reliability or longevity of the engine/turbo? What about fuel economy? I mean it should still get better gas mileage than a F56S, right?

I'm not really into tuning, but if it can give free power (ok, not free but at under $400) through boosting the turbo more, then I might consider doing it.

I have driven the Cooper with and without the tune. I can’t comment on the fuel economy since I spent 90% of my time in traffic, and the other 10% not worried about fuel economy.
I must say, it adds that fun factor previously reserved for “S” owners only.

That's what I thought as well.

The Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act is what I believe you are referencing.

With the BMS chip it would be pretty difficult to prove it caused the damage and a possible warranty to be voided as it's a "plug-in" after the ECU and is not retained in memory once removed.

With that said, I am almost positive if MINI wanted to void your warranty for using the BMS chip they would find a way. I would assume MINI/BMW have in-house lawyers making more money per month than I make in a year. They would have no problem putting you, the vendor, who-ever on the stand in a court of law and asking if you made/sold/purchased any modifications to the car. Sure you could lie, but under the penalty of perjury.

I want one!

I had the BMW chip on my 07 335i and it made a stunning amount of difference... I'd be more than willing to put it on our Mini was well.

Stock R56s puts down 150-155 whp and about 170 lb-ft of torque... this should be faster due to the significant increase in torque.

P.S. Thanks r33, I'm going to wait a bit longer though. We don't even have 1000 miles on our B38 yet.

The Burger tune isn't CARB approved, so it's not legal in CA at all.
