F55/F56 Automatic rev-matching
Automatic rev-matching
For the other members with a manual transmission:
Does your car rev match when you downshift into 2nd gear? Mine doesn't and I thought I remember it doing so when I test drove.
I haven't tried first since I'm usually stopped or almost stopped when I downshift into it.
Thanks!

I seem to recall that mine does, but I don't always pay close attention. If I'm driving fast, I'm usually entering corners at a speed that is better suited to 3rd gear and then I know that the rev matching is working.
Do you have traction control (DSC/DTC) turned off? I seem to recall disabling one of these will also disable rev-matching.
For reference I don't have mine turned off and my 2014 does rev-match in every gear.

The apparent frequency of this problem has me concerned because I can see service telling me it works as designed. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
Based on this thread, I tried multiple downshifts into 2nd gear, from speeds ranging from 25mph up to 50. Rev matching occurred as expected each time.
Car is a '14 MCS. Volcanic Orange, of course.

I just heard back from the service guy that they tested several cars on the lot and found none of them rev matched in second. He said since the car has no faults and all other cars behave the same, it's as designed.
This bothers me on several levels, mainly that this guy seems to be figuring out what is right as he's going along. Shouldn't all this be documented somewhere? Does anyone know who I can call to get the official, 100% definitive answer on what this is supposed to do?

The motors in the 2014 and 2015 Hardtop are the same.
The only change in the 2014 line up was to the Hardtop.
Does your dealer have a '14 S manual on the lot? If so ask to test drive it and check it out for yourself.
Or show them this... sorry for the poor quality, hard to drive/shift and video it at the same time. (and before anyone asks, no I did not "blip" the throttle on either of these 2 downshifts, as soon as the gear goes in the rev-match happens)

I called another dealer, they don't really know and are checking out cars on the lot. I'm surprised this is a difficult question to answer. If it turns out rev matching doesn't happen in 2nd per design on 2015s, I'm going to be extremely annoyed.
I believe you already determined that your car doesn't do it, as have some other people. Doesn't that pretty much answer your question?
I think its nice to have a feature that works correctly 100% of the time...
I guess the issue is finding out what is considered correct, though.
That being said, they should have just copied Nissan.
Actually no, it doesn't. I'm an engineer so I'm irritatingly curious therefore "yes" and "no" are too vague for my tastes. I want to know WHY it doesn't do that. Why do 2014s match in second but 2015s do not? (Second dealer called and told me that much.) The dealer said because the shifting calibration is different between the 2 model years. I don't know what that means either but it bugs me. Since I downshift into 2nd more than any other gear, this kind-of-cool feature is pretty much useless to me. Why nerf it like that?
