Waiting to board

With the news that BMW finally has the 2015 hatchback certified, and news that my car is at the dock waiting to be loaded onto the ship, I can see some progress.
2015 MCS, auto, wired, JCW interior, no sunroof, sport package, Harmon and Kardon, volcanic orange with black top, and a few others. Can't wait.
Current 2012 mcs manual.

Who said it is 'certified?' As far as I can tell they just finished the testing. Getting a Certificate of Conformance is another few steps. At least it can still be on track for a 1 Oct release date.

Whoa...........where did you get this info from? I understand that the testing was completed, and the Oct. 1st release date seems plausible, but nothing about the certification being completed. So, where did you hear this? I would like to pass this along to my dealer.....Thanks.

It seems to take between several days and several weeks, according to what I've read out there.

About a month ago. I believe they did not date it on purpose. This way when an MA gives it to a customer there is no way for the customer to see that it is month old information.

Good point Rocket Man. I just got my production number Saturday and in talking to the Sales Manager he told me a couple of interesting facts. Mini is not the only importer that has run into this problem, he also mentioned some Toyota vehicles not made in the US as well as VW. I looked on the VW web page and sure enough there were no MPG ratings for a couple of the 2015 golfs...... he intimated that this was an EPA issue (ok could be MINI line), not just MINI. Also told me that IF the numbers were not certified that MINI and other manufacturers were prepared to release the cars without the MPG ratings. When i offered that i had heard that this was illegal he told me no, that the only illegality would be in selling the vehicles with non certified MPG ratings on the sticker...........so this is what i was told, now how much is 100% true i have no idea

I'm sure there are a lot of complicated issues surrounding this whole thing and we probably won't know them all. I think a manufacturer can get a temporary exemption to sell a car without having a certificate from EPA, but I'm sure the terms and conditions of that exemption are laid out in writing. For the F56, it looks like Mini did test them in-house but the EPA did not certify them. Of course we all know the 2014 models were sold with labels that had MPG numbers. But the 2015's perhaps don't qualify for the exemption. Also there have been a lot of recent cars being sold with exaggerated MPG claims and the EPA may be cracking down on manufacturer testing for that reason. Especially when they claim over 40 MPG. But I can't understand why this would be a surprise to a manufacturer. It might just be an unfortunate alignment of events, but it seems like it could have been avoided with better planning.

The 2014's were sold with non-certified MPG numbers, but again they probably had a temporary exemption. I'm guessing when the 2015's ship they will have different MPG numbers than the 2014's. How different is the question. Also some posters have mentioned the number had already changed once on the 2014's.
