How to enhance Active Sound Design (ASD)

There are a couple of threads on removing the synthetic exhaust sound. Is there anyone out there that has made it louder and even changing it to sound like a V12 Ferrari etc.

I think you are on to something and as usual the German's have answered your prayers. These work perfectly on the F56 and you can get a digital version that you can upload to your hard drive!

As sad as it sounds, I'd probably install this on my justa. It's so quiet I can't even tell if it's on sometimes.

1-Get a bigger exhaust
2-There is a way to mod the software. I read somewhere on a BMW forum. You could probably add the M5 or M4 Profile. There is a volume control option but you need a program and a cable.
I suggest you read through all the forums...but there is a lot of fighting over this feature. Way worse than than this forum. It seems people that spend $75k on a car are quite upset by the idea of a prerecorded engine sound....

Meh, to me it's way overblown. The engine is really making that noise, they've just made the interior so quiet you can't hear it anymore.

Seriously though I like BMWs idea to do this. Having a loud exhaust annoys many people and negatively impacts quality of life. Also a loud car draws attention and makes it seem like its going faster than it really is. This is bad for getting speeding tickets and pissing off towns folk who will vote at the their next town meeting to add more cops to patrol. Also if I can have fun with my Mini making it sound like a Ferrari or a V8 M3 to me inside the confines of my own cabin isn't that the spirit of owning one of these cars? Having FUN?

An interesting point. If altering ones MINI is part of the MINI experience as many have said here, then altering the sound is part of that, isn't it? As said above, it's a pretty harmless alteration since it's only heard in the car and it's not annoying neighbors at 2am. Like louder pipes but more considerate to others.

I hadn't thought of it like that.

I like to think I'm kinder to my neighbors who don't deserve loud pipes when they're trying to sleep.

At least we're not talking about drilling holes in our muffler like someone suggested!

It's electronics - you won't be able to get any silicone in there to 'enhance' it.
