Aftermarket Driving Lights

I want to install a set of driving lights to the front grille. Should I buy the set that Mini sells or are there other options available on the aftermarket that someone wants to recommend? If so, and you've got a pic of what they look like on your car, post it. Thx!

These are the factory driving lights. I've had a set of aftermarket ones on my R56 but it rusted during the winter and the rust dripped down onto the bumper. These oem lights are made of a type of plastic except the mounting brackets is metal. I'll see how it holds up this coming winter.

The switch is on the right side of the steering column. Right at the midline. I've found with a little fiddling around you can flip the factory lights upside down revealing the 'S' if such is your vehicle. Yes this puts them even more in harms way than when right side up, but it won't take much of a tap in either location to effect their demise.

The install of the OEM lights is pretty straight forward but requires you remove the front bumper, pulling the glove box and pushing the wiring loom through the firewall and drilling a hole in you steering column. Doing this will same you the $700 the dealership will charge you!

GK
Do you have those instructions on PDF that maybe you could PM me?

I believe when they did my lights the dealer didn't get everything back together right. I've found the diagram that defines the fuse locations and a plastic tube piece on the floor on the passenger side. I'd like to put the tube back where it belongs - but at this point would sooner do it myself rather than bring it back to the dealer - those instructions would sure help.

TIA,
Paul_F

Paul here are the basic instructions.
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...tructions.html
The tube is from the back of the glove box to the heating and cooling duct.
You need to pull the glove box to put it back correctly.

Definitely do it yourself. My dealer had my car for about 2 weeks to install them after numerous times failing at it. The only reason I had them do it was because they were free for me.
