F55/F56 Sports Mode on Manual Transmission
Sports Mode on Manual Transmission
I currently have a 2012 R57 MCS auto transmission and I'm looking to get the F56 MCS manual transmission. How does the sports mode differ from automatic to manual transmission?
Depending on suspension you order...
-Turns DDC (dynamic damper control) to sport - 10% stiffer than stock
-Tightens up the steering
-Increases the throttle repsonse
-Turns on the interior noisemaker - makes the noise of a more tuned engine - through the stereo speakers (I believe)

This is on all the time on the Cooper S. Plays through the rear speakers
That is so upsetting to know. Some of us have tried to disconnect it. It definitely ramps up in sport mode though. Did you stick your ears to the speaker? Is that how you know this?

That's horrible. Does it play simultaeously with the stereo with music. Does it play even with the steroe off? Maybe I'll just buy a CD with really load exhaust recordings and use that too lol. Make it like a tricked out Harley.
I'm not sure why everyone thinks BMW Active Sound is so horrible. It's not like its a looped track playing over and over. It accurately can adjust itself based directly on ECU parameters. If you haven't had read about it in magazines and such, you'd probably have no idea it's even there. With how quiet the F56 chassis and cabin is now, they have to do that to create some sort of driving excitement. I wish my F56 Cooper had it to be honest....its so damn quiet I nearly forget to shift sometimes. So off the muffler will come...I'm sure it will still be too quiet inside, but hoping it helps out a tad

It plays all the time...its seamless really. Doesn't matter if music is on or not.

I agree, not an issue for me, in fact, I rather like it.
I personally find the idea...kinda..."cool jerk" ...If you remember the song.
You think the engine is loud and hot sounding....oh no it's just the noisemaker making noise only I hear...
