Canbus LED's have additional load resistors just to burn up more power because LED itself uses very little power. As George said, I'm also guessing that these cheap Chinese LEDs have resistance on the borderline of being detected as "bulb is working fine" and "bulb is dead".

Looks like the warning messages can't be disabled in the menu somewhere? I was going to replace them with normal non-canbus LEDs but I'll have to pass now.

There is a great thread over on the CM forums about replacing stock bulbs with LED alternatives. It goes over why you get error codes and what can be done to combat them.
Thread here: "LED Bulbs"
TL;DR version: the computer thinks the bulb is burned out because it isn't responding the way it expects it to and it throws a code, assuming the bulb is burned out.

You can:
- get CANBUS versions of the bulbs which will not throw codes as it essentially fools the computer

or

- on the Rxx models, myself and many others used a software tool called NCSExpert to basically tell the computer to not check specific bulbs. Unfortunately, the F5x models use a newer computer and NCSExpert doesn't work with it. There is a tool that does work that our BMW cousins use that would work on the F5x models since they share similar systems, but I haven't seen a breakdown of how to get it working with MINIs.

My original bulbs finally failed and threw a bulb out error after 6 months of operating. I ordered a new brand/style on Amazon that look identical to the LED headlights and DRLs. They are so close of a match they look stock. Not a bad price and CANBUS friendly. No flickering or bulb out warnings. Only have been running them for about a week now so will update here if I experience any failures.

Photos please? I'm wondering how they look as those LEDs shoot light to three directions.

This is looking like a lot of trouble/problems for some parking lights to me. You never see the darn things yourself either.

Is that the one in the front-bottom of the headlight? I saw in mine there is a cheap blue painted halogen bulb (to make it look whiter).

Aren't those T10 lights kind of dim for that place? I think those are supposed to replace 5W bulbs such as your glove box light. The trunk is even brighter at 8W (I replaced it with a 5W equivalent brightness LED).
There are more brighter ones where they have even more LEDs in it and is longer.

Anyone know what these Parking bulbs are called in E-SYS coding? If I can only find the name of these, then I'm sure the check can be disabled. See coding thread for more detail if interested.

Wait. How many bulbs are down there?

According to the manual, there are three!

I don't have the fog lights, so I'm guessing in my case, two plus a blank?

The parking lights: W5W Base

Do I have a DRL bulb too, if I have LED Headlamps with the LED DRL ring? Do I only have ONE bulb in there? Will have to check. The DRL bulb uses an obscure PSX24W base.

Just swapped out my parking lamps for LEDs. Perfect color match, and no warnings so far from these CANBUS bulbs.

just to overall clarify here, this is for those that did not opt for LED fogs, right? i just took a step out and my headlights, upper fog parking light and lower fog light are all the same color. i went with the led headlight/fog light option.

Correct. I have the LED headlamps with cornering lights, but NOT the fog lights. We get some useless amber parking lights down there, that do NOT match -- but now they do. :-)

I'm in your boat, my LED headlights don't match my parking lights at all (amber). I don't have the cornering option though.

I'm curious, In a few other threads (and even in this one) where some folks upgraded to LED parking lights, they didn't throw a code at first, but somewhere along the line maybe a SW update, or whatever, they began throwing codes, is that a risk at some point in the future for anyone trying to substitute their hideous stock amber parking lights for these LED options.

Not sure, but I was very careful to seek out CANBUS LEDs specifically designed as replacements for European cars, and so far, so good, but obviously it's still early days for me. No error codes so far.
