I currently own a 2010 Clubman S with 107,000 miles and I am starting to consider an upgrade to the F56. I would be interested in your thoughts and experiences on whether or not the justa would have enough power to be satisfying. My initial preference would be the non-S 3 cyl engine with 16" wheels and very few options.

 

You should test drive the models that you are interested in. Anyone else's suggestions would be purely subjective. Only you can decide for you.

I think you would be happy with the non S, but go test drive both. I was going to buy the S, but after reading a lot of reviews and posts, I was happy with the power of the Non S and took that savings and was able to buy more options

 

Same here.....No need for the "extra power"...purchased many more options.

 

I echo the sentiments of everyone who posted thus far:

Test drive both, then make the decision. I did; I test drove the S first, to get a baseline for the power. Then the justa. I bought the Justa, it suits my needs fine, and the gas mileage to bells and whistles ratio won me over the S.

 

I test drove both (only with manual), sold my R56 MCS and ordered my F56 Lotsa (a Justa with lots of options).

 

I got my 2014 justa last Thursday and spent a long weekend putting on 1800 miles driving mostly thru the Colorado mountains. This included a number or 8-11,000 foot mountain passes. Not once did I lack power. I'm very pleased with my justa.

It also easily cruised at 80, which is legal on I-80 in Wyoming.

 

I also recommend test driving both. Each person looks for very specific things to them that are important. I needed and wanted the MCS for the 189 HP for my lifestyle. It is always a personal choice and I wish you luck in deciding.

 

My MA took me on their prescribed test drive route around the dealership when I test drove both cars... Both were good, the MCS clearly more powerful. Neither test drive really allowed me to get a feel for what the car was like above 45 mph, though. I went back for a second test drive with the Justa and asked to take it onto the highway... As I was merging into traffic I floored it and was blown away at how much power it had as the base model. I knew right then that I was going to take the savings from the MCS and load up a base Cooper. Generally agree with everyone else, though... Everyone's needs are different so you should try out both. I do mostly in city driving/parking with a little highway so opted of r better fuel economy in the end.

 

Thank you everyone for your extremely helpful insights. I will definitely plan for a test drive of both. I do quite a bit of highway driving and I love the "get up and go" of my Clubman S. So, the test drives will have to include some highway driving. Thanks again!

Took the $ and put it into more options.

 

Ha ha... we drove the S and non-S and decided to get a Lotsa too!

Although I will say if money were less of a consideration, the S was just a bit more fun to drive.

 

Sounds like you might be happier with the S. For me, I love the extra power of the S, and really didn't consider the Justa to satisfy my "need" for power. I am very pleased with my S.

I wholeheartly agree. Traded in a 2006 R53 S ragtop and was very surprised by the Justa. I have had it for a week now and not missing any power. I love that I was able to load up on options instead of paying for a larger engine I didn't need . Like the non- S nose alot better and the mileage difference is a huge plus.

I went from a '10 Clubman S to a '14 justa and love it! I didn't like the front facia on the S model and the non-s is very peppy, just opted to tick a lot more options boxes rather than dump all the money into an S-model. You won't be disappointed if you go with the new justa.
