Detuned? Break in period

Have 2k miles on my 2014 F56 S and I'm frustrated every time I feel it hold back. Anyone else experience this? I understand that MINI didn't tune this engine to its full potential and I'm going to be envious of the JCW. However I'm already having a difficult time trying to fight the urge to beg for tuning mods. Especially since I have no desire to mess with the factory warranty. Someone please tell me there is good news and I won't have to wait long for my MINI to come to life.

Not the way to go IMO if you don't want to mess with the factory warranty.

Be patient and in due time MINI will be releasing a tuning kit (with warranty) similar to the one for the R56. It won't be cheap, though. Probably around $2500.

They'll have tuning available at some point. I'd give Way and Helix a call. Both of those shops have bragged on facebook about having the F56 apart so I'm assuming it was a tease for mods and tunes.

I completely agree with the engine feeling like it is holding back. My MCS feels like that. When you have an under tuned large 2 litre engine you would expect that. As I have stated before to get the same in the seat feeling as the R56 delivered you are going to have to put the HP up around 220 -230. Allowing you to travel a lot quicker but also making you a serious speeder.
This is the whole argument against the F56. Less MINI more BMW. People say the Fiat 500 Abath is much more fun. You don't need to be breaking the sound barrier for a good time.
A big under tuned engine and a very quiet interior and rubbery suspension have taken this car in another direction.
That's what we are reacting to I believe.

Rubbery suspension? My SS option is far from such...

Just makes me wonder more as to what BMW will "rate" this engine at when they throw it into their newer vehicles.

The same engine at the same capacity makes a lot more power in several BMW models, but they get higher-tech turbos.

So don't expect there to be volume **** hidden under the bonnet/hood that is currently set to 6 but can turn up to 11. More power may need better, more expensive ancillary hardware too.

John - Compared to my R56 (which had a 22mm rear sway bar) this car is bouncy in sport mode with 215 40 r18's non run-flats. Do you have the sport suspension? Wish I had that!

I agree with the comments about the suspension. I know that I will probably sucker for jcw suspension and engine tune although it pains me to think about what it will cost me.

Dinan will be another warranty option....but not cheap.
