Green mode oddness
The other day I was putting around town in green mode, parallel parked and turned the car off.
Only it wouldn't turn off. The switch had no effect.
I had to take it out of green mode in order to turn it off.
Is this a feature or a bug? didn't find anything in the manual.

I usually drive in Green mode since the majority of my driving is in town, and the issue hasn't happened to me [yet... knock on wood]. but, I have had to be more "firm" with the Start/Stop toggle switch sometimes. Ensuring that I'm pressing it deeply, rather than being weak with the press in order for it to activate. Let us know if you can replicate the issue.
I don't have a Mini yet so I'm just speculating. Could it be that as you stopped the car, it shut its engine off as part of the Green feature then ignored the Start/Stop switch because it thought you were asking it to restart. In that situation, I wonder if depressing the brake or clutch (depending on your car) would restart the car allowing you to turn it off via the switch.
I didn't make that very clear, but I think I get what's happening.

Sounds a bit different than that. The car, in any mode, when you put it in park will turn the engine off as a normal engine start/stop (That's not a green feature, that happens in all modes unless you turn it off). Then when you hit the Start/Stop toggle once it turns off the ability to re-ignite, the climate system, and if you have HUD, it'll retract that. Hit it once more and all the rest of the electronics (lights, radio, etc) turn off as well. Sounds like none of that is happening for kongjie.
1400 miles on mine now, almost 80% in green mode, and I've never seen that kongjie =/ I'd give your MA a call, and maybe bring it in if you are near by. From what I've read on these forums most of the odder problems can be fixed by a software tweak.

When I take it in I'll mention this as well as my brief foray into "drivetrain malfunction" territory. Might all be software.
Wacky! This just happened to me today. Ran some errands and thought I would hyper-mile in Green mode for the day. I got home and parked in the driveway. Tried to turn the car off, and it wouldn't turn off. I thought it was something to do with auto stop/start system. Played with the auto stop toggle switch and nothing happened.
I don't know what eventually worked but I was able to turn off the engine. I started throwing all kinds of solutions all at once. I drove backwards for 10 feet and back to my original parked position. Then tried pulling the parking brake up and down, in different positions. Eventually moved from Green to mid-mode. And thereafter tried turning off the car, and it eventually did. Total elapsed time from the first time I stopped in the driveway to finally turning off the car was only about 20 seconds.... it just sounds like I spent many minutes trying to complete this task.
I'll keep an eye on it and report back if it comes back.

Hmm, so I'm not the only one then. Sometimes I have to hold the stop/start toggle for a good 5 seconds before the car gets the message. It has done this on a couple of occasions between mid and green mode.
Happened to me today in normal mode. Car would not turn off until I had my foot back on the brake. Later tried to replicate it, couldn't.
Also have had auto start/stop start the engine when I opened the driver door. Come to a stop, engine stops. Open the door, car starts. In park.
Doesn't do that every time though.
Very odd.

I have only had this happen to me once in the 2,500 miles I have had the car. My husband was driving and got out to put fuel in the car. He said to me "I must have forgot to turn the car off can you reach over and do that for me." I said I would but it would not turn off until I must have pushed the off switch 10 times.
I haven't found anything in the manual that would suggest this would happen. I mean, not being able to turn the car off is a significant event, and I would think the manual would have to note it as a possibility.

Part of the green mode stuff is it'll lecture you for driving poorly, if you drive how it tells you (slow acceleration, coast well before braking, brake slowly) you should beat the EPA estimates.
If I remember correctly. The EPA fuel economy measurements must utilize the "standard" default setup. Meaning a cold start, and straight to drive. It does not take to account "Sport" or "Green" modes.
